Heard Doug Gotlieb this afternoon on the unlistenable petros and money show. He was very positive overall about the lakers. He casually dropped a nugget about Russell and Clarkson: "They HAD to trade Russell. He was a horrendous leader, preferring to go out and party rather than work on his game. Same with Clarkson." Hmmm, makes sense. I've always been a Dlo fan. He was an obviously immature young kid. Glad he's grown up. Maybe it took a change of scenery.

i think most of us suspected as much at the time. i know i did. i actually thought he had a substance abuse problem, tbh. but whatever it was, it seems better now.

i'm probably going to regret going back here, but one of my main arguments against that trade was that it was clear to me that lopez wasn't in the team's long-term plans (remember: i wasn't anti-trading dlo, i was anti-using dlo as a means to dump salary).

anyway, lopez clearly wasn't in the team's long-term plans.

Wouldn't be surprised if he had "ice" in his bloodstream.

I didn't like the trade at the time but we cleared cap space to get a top 10 of All time talent, and Kuz is doin work. Good trade in retrospect. Glad Russ is doin well. Still can't help but think what a Zo Russ backcourt would look like.

D-Lo has a James Harden game to him. If he dedicates himself the next few years to being great, the trade will hurt.

Rotoworld: “Russell is the first player in franchise history to register 40+ points, eight or more treys and seven or more assists in a game. He's making a case for an All-Star bid with ice in his veins.”

If we get another superstar this summer we'll forget about it , if we don't , it is going to hurt some .

His inability to get to the line/finish at the rim still will hurt him in the long term .

He has had some very bad games even during this hot stretch because of it and not being an elite shooter .

    Series 1: points per game
    Series 2: assists per game
    Series 3: rebounds per game

22 and 23 is Russ's November, December, and January. In brief, over the last three months, he has posted three of his five best months in his career, including his current best. January: 23.2 points, 7.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds (shooting splits: 50%-44%-93%).

I am happy to see him succeed. Still, for a reason I can't really name, I am not really sad he's not a Laker anymore. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way.

Wish him all the best though, seems like he may get his chance to shine in the playoffs this season. With his confidence and ability to get hot, I can see him do great under pressure and have a good run actually.

Best thing is the Nets are playing winning basketball and Russell is playing well and winning. I didn't believe it was possible especially with Laverts injury. They were many games below 500.

    Kudos
