    He has three areas where I think he can really improve to elevate his game.

    Defense: it's effort, and that's mental. He has to dig in.
    TOs: it may be effort and mental again. He's not losing the ball; he's making bad passes.
    Threes: He's not a bad three-point shooter, but he's not elite. If he can sneak up to just 39% - just a bit - he's a deadly offensive player.

    Interested to see how many of these he can add to his game in the offseason.

    In the 20 games he's played after the all-star break, he's had 5 games where he shoots 50% or better from 3pt range, and 6 games where he shoots 25% or worse from that range. I think he has the potential to shoot 40% from 3pt range, but he needs to figure out why he has those terrible nights.

    I want to put this number into context quick: Since the ASB, Steph Curry has 7 at 50%+ and 6 at 25%-. DA needs to be more consistent, but statistically, a 40% three-point shooter is going to have lots of games at 25% or below. That's just how high level skills work.

    Inconsistent mechanics.

    Much like an NFL QB who has inconsistent accuracy.

    If he can work on them and be a consistent shooter I think still D'Lo can be an All Star. Maybe not a superstar quote on quote, but think we'd all take an All Star at this point. If Brandon and D'Angelo can at the very least develop into that you can bank on them being able to attract another star down the road.

    yup. drifts and fades sometimes and not others. huge impact on a shot that travels that far.

    the fact that it's mental doesn't necessarily mean it's easily correctable. we're at two full years of this kind of absent-minded play on both ends. may just be who he is. harden's that way, too, but he's an elite scorer.

    It might be who he is, but if Russell can work on those shot mechanics he can still be an elite scorer. He's a 16 ppg scorer right now while only playing 28 mpg.

    i agree. it's possible he becomes a good enough scorer that you live with the laisse faire attitude. but that's not what franchise players are made of. if you're already accepting he's not that, it's ok. it's probably true, and it will help you cope with the years ahead.

    really wish ingram's mind was in russell's body. russell just has a lot of stuff you can't teach. he also seems to have a mind you can't teach...

    Raise hand if you think maybe BI's outside shooting becomes ultimately more consistent night to night than Russell. BI has length and actually jumps and doesn't have to rely on the quick draw and fire method Curry, Thompson and Russell employ. Not necessarily higher season long % for 3s but good and more consistent.

    I think so but russell will still have more nights where he can hit 7-10 3s with relative ease, Ingram on a good/great night will hit 4-5 3s
