The Rock is also considering running for President.

I would vote for him honestly. :D

I'd like to know what costs he thinks would be incurred.

I'd be willing to arm and train just about anybody who wants to serve their country barring physical or mental incapacity. Even then, I'll find a way to make a position for you to serve.

That's pretty much what I figured. If you look at the study the cost impact is minimal. If you made a rule stating that the military wouldn't actively pay for your transition, then there's almost no cost impact at all because there's so few transgendered people in the military. If a person transitions and then joins the military, I see no real reason why they would cost an increased amount.

On the topic though I think there needs to be a ton of research done on physical capabilities of a transgendered person. Not some weird scientific poking and prodding, but just for information down the line. What is their strength profile going from male to female and vice versa? Do they increase the likelihood of certain ailments over time (osteoporosis, tendinitis, etc)? It'd be important information in the military setting, but also in a sports environment. Part of the problem is just a lack of available data. Transgender on this scale has never really been seen before and it'll be interesting to see their biological and physiological progress as time goes on.

Are women still restricted in some military rolls? If not, I don't think there would be any harm in doing a study, but I also don't think it would matter.

If the two ends of the physical ability scale are probably the physically weakest woman and the physically strongest man, any trans person would fall somewhere in the spectrum.

And because there's just one scandal after another, with him banning trans people from the military, people might not have heard, he's cutting 4,000 jobs from the Department of the Interior

I know it comes off discriminatory, but I'm genuinely curious about the findings, especially in a sports setting. I don't want to keep anyone out of the military, I just think a study like that would be interesting. Does a trans athlete going from a male to a female have any latent strength gains that makes them stronger than a female of the same size and physical profile? I don't think there's enough data to really say, but it'd be interesting to find out, no? The trans that I know would say that the transition between genders is so strenuous that it eliminates physical advantages, but there's limited research to back that up. I'd just like to know how true it is that's all. I don't want to keep anyone from being what they want. Transitioning between genders is a horrible, difficult process for dozens of reasons. I'm not belittling them. I'm just curious.

It's a little off-topic, but you could stretch it to the military as well. My thing with the military in regards to women has always been easy: if women are "too small" or "too weak" to hang with a men's unit, then give them their own. Even then, units should be separated by size, strength, and merit. As long as every person in the unit is capable of carrying another person in the unit, I think it shouldn't matter what gender they are. I don't think it's inherent discrimination to keep a small woman out of the Navy SEALS if she's physically incapable of holding her own, but I'd definitely find a way to let that woman represent and defend her country in another way. I have nothing but the utmost respect for our military.

I know there are some physical attributes that don't change when someone transitions. For instance, hip bone angle and structure is different from men to women, and hormones don't change that. Other than something like that, I don't know.

I don't understand this. Any physically capable adult who wants to serve their country in this way should be allowed to. Being transgender isn't a handicap. This sort of policy is moving backwards, not forward where we should constantly be heading. I'm sure if an actual large war broke out you'd see them taking any and everyone they could, so this discrimination is laughable and pathetic, done because they currently can.

And now he's calling out the very Jeff Sessions whom he appointed as Attorney General to replace the acting FBI director (which he can do himself by the way.) and for recusing himself from the probe.

This isn't a bloody business you can just hire and fire people at your whim to get what you want. And you wonder why his own party doesn't even support him

The Trump presidency reached a new low today and seems like it's only going to get worse. No way our government can sustain like this for another 3.5 years.

I also don't understand the urgency.

Was this a question before today? Was there something going on that I don't understand where this statement had to be made today?

I think it's also to distract from the impending failure of passing the new health care law.

Does Trump have ties to Russia? Here is the answer with very specific evidence from the FBI among other sources. So Trump was lying with out question when he said he has no connections to Russia.

Not just Russia, that Russian Mob:

This is pathetic. I don't know or care if the letter is real or not, either way, reading it publicly like this is pathetic propaganda. This serves no purpose other than to try feed Trump's massive ego. People all over Twitter are either laughing at it, or saying "new low for the Liberals to laugh at this", all it does is further divide people, it's disgusting to me.

And on real issues, we have the people surrounding the president in the WH fighting eachother in public on Twitter. The White House is a mess right now, it's embarrassing, they should be embarrassed for this and they aren't. I'm ashamed of our "leaders" right now, we look like the joke of the world.
