Actually, I can definitely state that he and I were a part of the handful that wanted DLO instead of Okafor.
It was one of those gambles that didn't seem super terrible at the time. Thanks to Kobe's dancing with the clippers and killing our trade leverage, we took on Bryan Grant's horrible contract in the shaq trade, keeping us over the cap. The Kwame gamble sort of made sense when you take into account all of the factors involved. Besides his contract got us Paul Kasol and championships.
i hated the trade at the time considering butler was still young and on the up. but in 04-05 the lakers had chris mihm and the corpse of vlade divac down low so the need for a big man was a priority. looking back on it, makes sense why they did it

I find it amazing how everyone is saying wow what a great trade when it gave us the pieces to get Gasol ! Nobody wants to talk about how big of a bust this trade was for us and KB Was absolute trash and the LOGO bailed us out when the whole league was laughing at us offering Kwami brown .
