but their whole plan is stock enough guys behind kawhi/PG that they can still make the playoffs. then all they need is those two and some of the rest to bring home a ring. basically, exactly what we had prior to the westbrook trade.

    just the worst.

Jeanie isn't going open just open a check book and write checks.

    Won't happen.

And you know what's sad if she doesn't want to be hit with the luxury tax is she could hire the best minds in basketball.

Open the checkbook up for that. There's no luxury tax there.

Instead, we have Rob and Kurt running the show. Don't mind Rob, but what about hiring a real basketball mind to work in conjunction with Rob.

Troy Weaver was available at the time. But nobody knew who he was I guess. He wasnt a part of the "family". And he is having one hell of an off-season in Detroit.

    Ridiculous.

hi, hello….back from the dead again.

So……I don’t mind Rob still being in his spot, I also think he just needs a new person, who just has knowledge of things right now, to be a Jerry West type figure to Rob and help him get through all these things.

As far as Jeanie goes, it’s just Kurt and Linda that need to be thrown out. When have they done any good for us? Like Kurt went to NYC with Phil and how did that go?

Other than his assistant stints with Phil, Kurt hasn’t been good since the 80s. I think it’s time to sever that. Jeanie can be like her Dad IF she can hear her own thoughts and ideas and thinks about things.

Kurt and Linda are holding her back. All those guys still think the “pristine” of the name Lakers will just get people to bow down to us, and that’s not the case anymore.

NBA has a salary cap. I don't know why the discussion of pay is a talking point. Lakers were 4th in payroll last year. They pay. The issue with Jeanie is decision making, not money.

Taking out a PPP loan when you are arguably the 2nd most popular franchise in the world behind Manchester United, is an embarrassment. The fact that it got approved only adds to the fact that the system is a complete joke and Jeanie allowed her decision making to be one as well.

You listen to Rob Pelinka, and this was even when he was making the right moves, he always sounded like he was giving everyone a line with his manos from above b*******. It was ok when he was doing his job well but after a while, fakes get exposed and he is a fake.

We give Rob, and it looks like Jeanie does too, a lifeline because Kobe liked him. However, I'm starting to wonder if the people Kobe liked, like Pelinka and Kyrie are just people he rolled with to help them not go full blown stupid. Kobe had a lot of guilt from some of his decisions in his life with Colorado and his parents situation, maybe he tried to play it even with all the people alike, which made him even more popular.

It's an interesting world we live in. The easiest way to live is to live real. This comes from experience of living 44 years. When you live a real life, real as in, being truthful and not being s lying idiot, you have better health, confidence and better surroundings. When you don't, you live in a hole that you have to constantly throw sand out off that never stops getting sand.

Everyone wants the quick money. Quick money usually means quick no money if you a re dumb.

Kobe didn’t roll with Rob to “help him not go full blown stupid”. WTH? Sometimes you just like to get on a soapbox.

i think the caruso decision was purely financial, no? you can't tell me they thought signing him to that deal would harm the franchise in some way.

Seriously though, why can't we go and talk to Bob Myers, Masai Uriji, RC Buford or someone of that ilk and open the bank vault for them and make them president of basketball operations? The Rambii have done nothing to prove that they should be in that position for the premier franchise of basketball. Makes no sense. I get the luxury tax thing, but spending what you need to spend to get the best basketball minds in the business seems like a no brainer to me.

We definitely should be looking at those guys, and I think one of them was rumored before we hired Magic… but it all comes down to Jeanie wanting to keep things in the family. Instead of surrounding herself with the best minds she wants to surround herself with the most loyal.

The only person doing roster construction was me. And it’s my WMC point, the only way to field a competitor is for free agency to be a literal 1 in a million outcome.

As far as I understand it we are allowed to WMC about any subject however we please, that’s the point of this thread. Unless you are now setting the rules around here?

No, but keep it on topic.

Matter of fact, just don't post for like a year.

    Go take a vacation.

That's my WMC: your Westbrook fascination and your posts.

Here what I'll do, though:. I'll book you and @Slick2021 a room, get you a poster of WB and some Jergens, and maybe that will keep you busy for the regular season.

    Back on ignore you go..

    Troll.

I don’t think @svtzr is even in the same zip code as pertains to Russ as @Slick2021. Not even close.
