Kobe was one of a kind with the work ethic. Same used to be said of sirron. At least this new kid is trying .... is what it is. Just thankful we're getting some new ones.

Really cool hear all the recruiting AD's already done for us and this was all before his presser.

More proof that AD isn't going anywhere else. Now let's go get a championship!

All this working with LBJ and AD that Rob did is brilliant not only from a recruitment stance but making these guys take a responsibility for this team. Putting it together, using their star power to attract guys for probably less than they could get. This will also make those 2 feel like they own it. Likewise it'll make those incoming players feel like they are wanted by the top dawgs. There is no star player resentment toward the FO about "well I didn't want this guy or that guy".

^I'm (generally) of the opinion that no player is bigger than the franchise. And for that matter, should not be involved in any decision as they look for their own interest rather than the franchise. LeBron probably doesn't care about our longterm success. He wants a championship within 2 years and thats all he cares about. But I do see that the power of NBA players has grown to unhealthy levels...they can choose where to play and with whome to play...which is unprecedented in any sport as far as I know.

So my logic doesn't make perfect sense in the NBA. Furthermore my logic only makes sense if you have capable people in the FO...a good president of basketball ops, a good GM, a savvy owner, continuity etc...since we don't, it makes sense to have Klutch run the show...at least they are mighty enough to recruit solid players. And as you said, that takes away the excuse of "I didn't want this guy or that guy"...

This is what they have chosen and they have to be happy with it.

We already offloaded our youth so LBJ's decision making regarding roster can't hurt much in that regard and as far as overpaying vets to play here on contracts that are too long, that didn't happen so maybe that was true in the past with LBJ (giving guys like JR Smith too much for too long) it wasn't the case with us. Credit Rob and/or LBJ's maturity and also I'm pretty sure AD does care about the franchise long term. It sounds to me like it was not harmful and actually quite beneficial for Rob to work with these 2 this off season. I agree sometimes that's not the best idea to involve players but it seems to have been the right time to do so with these guys. It certainly was more effective than however the hell it was done last season.

I'm loving these guys. There's one hell of a vibe that's building with this roster we have. I think we're a frickin' juggler knot in the making.

Meh, I hardly know any of these players. Not able to get excited yet at all.

Roster seemed to fill out nicely, but still questionable leadership at every level. Despite getting good coaches, the way we went about it was whack.

Our holdover home growns are literally down to Kuzma and Caruso

Duplicate talent the staff will have to get to mesh and define roles while everyone is on short term contracts. Then in two years we’ll get another reboot and an entirely new roster as we build around AD. Yay.

Hopefully the play on the floor gives us something to cheer about this year, but I have very little emotional attachment to anyone on the entire roster.

After years of mediocrity, I’ve become pretty indifferent. My favorite sports team has not been the entertainment/distraction/enjoyment it had been for decades.

Show me. Rah rah videos do nothing for me.

    :Nope:

most teams turn over the roster a fair amount--especially bad ones like ours. i would have loved to grow a contender, but if you were paying attention...we weren't.

Yeah, I prefer the home grown approach. But, even if we kept this core we weren't winning any championships over the next ten years:

    C - Zu / TBryant
    PF - Randle / Kuz
    SF - BI / Kuz
    SG - DLO / Hart
    PG - Zo

Wow. Never seen it laid out like that. Would cost a fortune to sign all of them and wait for their early prime. Might have a shot if they all were to keep their pace of improvement for 2 - 3 more years to start sniffing a ring but as you say probably not happening. They would all too have to have perfect health.

No, of course not. We were interacting with RonStu's "meh" in his post above.

i wanted that basic roster plus paul george, but, tbh, the current roster is better. i never thought davis would be possible with any combination of our assets until rich paul became our gm.

Iets play hindsight gm for moment and say we dont sign James and we dont do the Dlo to dump mozgov scenario, do you think we could've gotten PG last off-season and then Kawahi comes this off season? we then would've had dlo in a possible SnT for assets, now BI can be traded for future picks or a big (maybe still have AD trade as opt as he see's Pg/Kawahi here even tho we wouldn't have the klutch super agent James here)
