" Sources: Lakers add to forward depth Shams Charania of The Vertical Sep 21, 2016, 2:40 PM View photos Thomas Robinson, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 draft, is only 25 years old. (Getty Images) Free-agent forward Thomas Robinson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told The Vertical. Robinson, 25, has been working out daily for the Lakers and plans to sign Thursday, sources said. The Lakers have 14 guaranteed salaries – with Yi Jianlian on a strong partial guarantee – giving Robinson an opportunity to make the regular-season roster. The Lakers also agreed to a deal with 16-year veteran Metta World Peace on Wednesday. Robinson has played four NBA seasons after leaving Kansas as a junior. He spent the 2015-16 season with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 4.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 12.9 minutes in 71 games. Robinson was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 draft. Wheres the pt for these guys? Nance, randle, yi maybe even auguste and why the hell did we bring back mwp, isnt deng enough for that vet mentor role
Well he got a 1 year deal, and I didn't think we can send him to the D League (I could be wrong), so I think he's really on the team
Tough to complain about this signing - even for Lakers fans. Boom. Rebounds like a beast, can't shoot. Sounds like Julius Randle. JK. Robinson can defend.
Honestly would've this signing a year or two ago, now it just makes me more confused with our forward depth.
Saw another tweet, mwp and trob are not fully guaranteed. If young doesnt get moved ine of mwp or trob shouldnt make it right?
Nothing wrong with good competition, but somebody better separate themselves from the pack. Lots of mediocrity it appears...
i like it. no harm in looking at a guy that i really thought would be a better pro than he has been. not a headcase, either, from what i understand.
Yeah, as far as training camp invites go, we could do worse than a former top 5 pick. I doubt he shows enough to make the team considering our roster is so packed, but who knows? Maybe he ends up living up to some of that potential that many saw in him years ago.
Hes pretty scrappy. Rebounds well, and defends at an above average rate. Can't shoot though. Can block a few shots here and there.
That's an insult to Randle. Robinson has never averaged a double double, he's been nothing failure to live up to potential. Tarik Black, IMO, makes someone like Robinson redundant.
