Sounds like personal experience? Were you hurt thumb wrestling too? Or you read elsewhere on THT the ETA for cast removal?

    :)

Wow without being in the health care field I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you are waaaay overestimating the recovery time by months.

I would say December is unrealistic, and January is not too far off.

A friend and a former teammate of mine had this injury, and it took about 6 weeks to get back if I remember correctly. So, not personal experience, but this is not an uncommon injury in basketball (especially if you have big hands and long fingers). I don't think he can be back before early December, personally... longer if they want to play it safe or he needs more practice.

Yeah I think I'll go with Dr Brar's estimate over yours (unless I see some like valid credentials), which is 5-6 weeks, and puts him back before December and places it around Mid-November to November 22, like 3 months off of your original estimate lol.

I just read about this newish surgery:

    https://www.cedars-sinai.org/blog/new-thumb-ligament-surgery.html

So yeah you’re right it should be sooner than later. But otherwise conventional method is 10-12 weeks.

Even 10-12 weeks, which the article says is not all the time, it is ("sometimes up to") would be Christmas to January 10th-ish. Still 1 1/2 to 2 months off of your original late February estimate.

Zach Lowe wrote a piece for ESPN Insider on the 5 most intriguing players this year. THT made the cut.

If you have Insider, still check out the article because he has some video examples sprinkled in the piece.

interesting thoughts on his potential as a post-up player (i agree, and agree that he settles way too often in those situations) and as a zone buster in the draymond role.

pair that with the supposed shotblocking, and i wonder if maybe point 3/4 isn't his destiny (moreso than the 1/2/3 we seem to be trying/thinking).

would like to see him step into a revamped kuz role.

Hope he's still playing a lot of ball even if he has cast on his right hand. This is the time to get that left hand as good his right with ballhandling and finishing inside

i broke my right wrist when i was younger and did a ton of shooting drills with my left hand that helped me when i got back. he actually has good dexterity with his left there, so it could just be a matter of confidence.

I hope THT blossoms: got to respect a guy who has clearly worked on and continues to work on becoming a better player
