I'm confident we do what we have to to keep him. Then we just need Vogel to stop using him as a yo-yo and let him play.

if we end up unloading a lot of depth this summer, i think THT will be forced into the lineup. honestly, he can defend the sf spot, so we can play him there if kuz goes. plus, if we make any substantial investment in him, it's definitely time to get him regular burn.

I feel we don't need to get these big names. Just get some old vet play maker to bring this kid along in the meantime.

total agreement here. stopgap vet pg next year (would love mcconnell, but patty mills, dragic, others can work, too) and let THT find his way into the rotation. sink or swim time. we can chase bigger fish in december if we keep our powder dry. the hope will be drained from some teams then, and the deals are better.

See, now that is what I'm talking about. Give me the same for the Eagle, and we're all good.

Well, one of them had to go, it seems. At least I am happy THT is back.

Is it official? Though nobody can make real poison pill offer now, so that’s good.

9 million for a year for AC was not that bad of a contract: not sure why you wouldn't keep both your young athletic guards on a geriatric team.
Yes if you picked just one you go with the guy who has the star potential but you couldn't convince me that the Lakers could have gotten AC back for even slightly less to stay (he's an endorsement waiting to happen in LA)

*this is without knowing what if anything else the Lakers are planning

yeah, i'm trying not to totally freak out. though someone will have to prove to me that whatever great move rob makes was totally incompatible with keeping caruso at a very sensible price.

unacceptable. this isn't the indiana pacers. gtfo with that. not you, karacha.

Exactly. This is Pacers level cap management. Keep in mind we've been operating at or just above the cap for years now. We are the glamor franchise of the league and we're floating around the cap year in and year out.

curious to see how this plays out now. nobody has enough cash to make us squirm on a THT contract now. then again, we let caruso walk for about 50% less than i thought it would take for us to let him walk, so who knows...

Someone will offer the MLE for him and we'll let him walk.

tbh, if i were us i'd offer the max we can for three years with a player option on year three. and if i were him, i'd negotiate that down to 2 years with a player option on year 2. in both cases, he makes the most he possibly can next year and the team has his bird rights.

i'm guessing that's where it ends if he can't get someone to try to poison pill him. problem is that to make such an offer, you need more than the MLE, and almost nobody's got that.

i suppose SA could try to piss in our cheerios here. would be very SA to do so.
