Good test vs a nice defensive team tonight. Thibs will have his scouting report and guard him differently lets see how THT adjusts

Not sure that's a good comp. Animal only LOOKS like he is having a grand mal seizure. He is a savant.

This stat is impressive and one of many reasons, you don’t want to lose this 20 year old.

The inclination to pass when defenses erase the first option is an area where THT has shown development. Per NBA.com tracking data, Horton-Tucker’s assist to pass percentage of 10% ranks second on the Lakers, trailing only James. It speaks largely to his potential because, among the Lakers who have played at least 20 games this season, Horton-Tucker is second to last in minutes per game.

Just started to read it but came across this.

    "Talen Horton-Tucker flaunted his panoply :D ......"

Heads for dictionary instead first :p hopefully nothing dirty he did :giggle:

OK, no worries. Author showing off, could have said repertoire

"a full suit of armor Knights in panoply were ready for battle. b : ceremonial attire The nobles were in panoply for the coronation. 2 : something forming a protective covering faces dim in a panoply of smoke— William Baucke."

OK to the article. Yeah he really does have good court vision and passing skills especially for a just turned 20 year old "combo guard" who can bully mature NBA players already going to the rim. And maybe I was too harsh earlier bagging on him having no jump in his J. Watching that first clip expanded to full screen several times .... he's actually elevated at least 3 full inches.

Kid seems to have 2 speeds to his 3 pointers. When he’s feeling confident ... nice enough release, no hesitation and about 3” of elevation. More often .... a visibly unconfident and slightly slower release that looks like he’s trying not to miss it and aiming almost. Shooting those I’d bet he gets off the ground even less if at all. And a slight hesitation to shoot them when not feeling it. Unlike Kuz with no conscience. :D When he is shooting in that slower way I have zero confidence myself they are going in and usually they don’t. Needs less conscience to get to where he needs to be.

Some homework assignments over the summer:

    1) Play under control. Learn to play within the system/offense.

    2) Shoot. Shoot. Just keep shooting, esp beyond the arc. He can be so deadly if he added that to his arsenal.

    3) Something I’d like to see for fun—gain 10 pounds of muscle so he can just plow through the lane like LeBron. He already knows how to avoid charges and finish creatively at the rim, now imagine if he could do that willingly. Would also allow him to grab more rebounds.

    4) Develop a mean streak.

Still can’t believe he’s only 20. The sky’s the limit for this kid.

his individual d can be rough at times, too. i think jeff green made him look like a parking cone on a play the other night. that probably wasn't fun in film session.

one thing at which he's ahead of the game is his passing, imo. makes good ones off the dribble, but also when he's stationary and hitting cutters. i don't think he's going to be a pg, but he may get good enough that you can live with quasi-pgs like schroder and caruso next to him.

I agree. He can get out of control at times. Much more of an experience issue than anything else. He's technically still a rookie since he didn't really play last season. He might never develop to be a decent shooter but the threat of him being able to take and make those shots is what is really important here.

I don't know if he should be gaining more weight. He had to drop a lot of weight last season and I think he's 220-230 right now which is heavy for a player of his height. Probably not a great idea for his knees in the long run to have that much baggage on him.

Defensively, I think he can be one of the better defenders in the league. He's got the size to guard bigger players and the wingspan to make him a nightmare defensively for guards.

Kid got schooled defensively tonight. Overall nice game but gotta be better at guarding your own man so he can earn minutes on the floor

WTF's with the 0% and F rating's for "shot quality" at the rim if he has mostly As with a few Bs on all the other aspects of getting to the rim ???

They must not like his reverse shot??

    That is a stupid stat!

It's like, you get to the rim and score at the rim better than anyone who has ever existed but we don't like how you do it!! F!!!!!!

I mean... his shots at the rim might look bad, but they go in. If you get to the rim and get an "A" and your shots usually go in ("A-"), then why does the "quality of the shot" matter? It's confusing.

maybe saying while he gets to rim his shot faces alot of difficulty either in the shot itself or the amt of contested opponents near him. Even though he gets there, he is facing 2-3 guys in the paint challenging his shot
