I don't believe his ego is as big as it's made out to be. If it was, he would have asked out publicly after going to the bench. Funny thing, there was some stuff out that said that he was open to it last season. He just didn't like Vogel and his perceived persona of a Prima Donna took over the narrative. Russ is the 2nd highest paid NBA player off the court besides Lebron, it's not a money thing, I think he wants to play out in his career in his home town. Winning a chip with the Lakers would cap his career, playing next to Lebron and AD is his best real shot at a chip since he was in OKC with Harden and KD. I'd be shocked if he simply left for more dough.

Yes..You have a low opinion of Westbrook period..noted... but Derrick Rose had horific injuries that derailed his career. He was far from Russ's caliber years ago. Those two aren't comparable at all.

not sure if you followed Rose but he was very good for both Detroit and Minnesota: 18ppg on decent shooting. He resurrected his career
They are more similar than you care to admit

    clearly better than russ:

    suns-paul
    C Bags-smart
    bucks-holiday
    cavs-garland
hawks-young or murray, take your pick
    pacers-halliburton
    nets-irving
    sixers-maxey or harden
    toronto-vanvleet
mavs-doncic or dinwiddie (latter debatable, but doncic is pg)
    hornets-lamelo
    pistons-cunningham
    memphis-ja
    denver-murray
    portland-dame
    utah-conley or clarkson
    gs-curry
    okc-SGA
    sac-fox

probably better than russ according to most:
    knicks-brunson
    bulls-zo or eagle
NO-doesn't start a real pg, so it's nominally mccollum or ingram, who are better
    clippers-reggie jackson
    minny-russell
    rockets-jalen green

    worse:
    spurs-nobody
    orlando-suggs

again, what started this is the claim that somebody is going to pay russ 15/20 million per next year. look at the list.

Somewhat but they are really not. Derrick was Russ like for his 1st 4 years in the NBA. He hasn't been on his level since, including today. Good to see Rose make a comeback tho, he was a special player before the 1st ACL injury.

So I guess your definition of a better PG, is the guy that scores more points at the position. Seriously what makes Conley, Clarkson, Murray, Vanfleet, Maxey, Jackson. Green, or Brunson for instance better Point guards? Ridiculous..we get to see some of these guys real soon

great, lay it out then, fellas. let's have some votes. which team from the list trades their pg for russ?

conley and clarkson's teams perform better when they play. jamal murray's a near all star. vanvleet was an allstar last year.

you can't be serious with this stuff.

Russ was 3rd team All NBA and an All Star in Houston. Only reason he missed All star in Washington is because of his injury at the start of the season.

You see Russ as a spent force and no longer that caliber of player and it’s fine. But many of those players aren’t better than him in my opinion.

And I’m happy to just agree to disagree. We’ll see if he flames out this season and/or what he gets offered next year.

I think he gets 15-25m per for 3 years. Especially as he gets better at his new role.

They would all play better with Westbrook because they are mostly small 2's. NOT PG

what russ did three years ago matters, but vanvleet being the lone allstar on a winning team last year doesn't. ok?

and he doesn't have to flame out--the point is that he's playing his best basketball for us as a 25mpg bench player that we have to sit in the 4th quarter if we want to win.

it's better than last year, but not a single team on the list above the spurs/magic is trading their starting pg for russ.

so who's giving him the 15-25 million? the spurs or the magic? it's us or nobody, so he needs to play nice.

lol. the only way to make your point is to claim that the league has exactly 4 point guards and the position is defined solely by total number of assists.

    the weakest of sauces.

Still don't trust him in any 4th quarter against good defensive teams.

The lack of spacing is still brutal.

I’m no longer in a hurry to unload Russ. I certainly don’t think we need to attach 2 firsts any more to do so. He’s playing great off the bench and his assists are outstanding. Really we need to move Bev and Nunn for a shooter. Add a first if necessary. But I still want to trade Russ at the deadline if there’s a good deal for us to fill in this roster better.

just cause la forced him to the bench role and it worked out doesnt mean Russ will look at himself that way at season end nor would "interested" team also view him that way, if cp3 isnt a great comp how bout Conley overpaid deal?
