It also wouldn’t explain why it doesn’t hurt our opponents shooting. The Suns shot 18-35 in game 6 and Booker was 8-10, that’s insane.

Don't forget KCP and Caruso were #1/#3 at three point shooting % at one point in the season. Granted, it was the first few weeks but they couldn't miss. Fast-forward to now and neither could buy a shot. The thing is, Lakers only had 1 shooter out there on the court at any given time. Sometimes, they had zero. Caruso isn't a shooter. Outside of KCP+Matthews, who were the lights out shooters based on reputation that the Lakers had? You will need at least 2 more in case someone goes cold and the other can step up. LeBron's second stint with Cleveland, you could argue that they were a top 5 three-point shooting team that entire four year stretch. Last year, the Lakers were 21st in 3P% but they were able to convert easy baskets with dunks, layups, and lobs. Plus, the threat of three-point shooters such as Danny Green (even though he wasn't shooting the ball well), still forced defenders to cover him. Lakers played Schroder, Bron, AD, KCP, and Drummond. Schroder never got comfortable with his three point shot so he abandoned it, Bron can get streaky and only really decides to chuck threes when he can also attack the paint, AD isn't really a three point shooter, Drummond can't shoot, and if KCP goes cold, the Lakers essentially have no three-point shooting in their starting lineup. Last season, after Bradley didn't return to the bubble, the Lakers played KCP+Danny Green+Bron+AD+Javale. Lakers always had two shooters out there which opened up the floor for everyone.

Wonder if Toronto would do a ST'd DS, KCP, and Trez for Siakam. Risky move as Siakam has a fat contract and is definitely not a #1 or maybe even #2 but as a #3 he would be scary good on the Lakers. All that length and athleticism in between James and AD would supercharge an already elite defense

Lakers get an legit overpriced third star with some questions. Toronto gets rids of that fat contract and start a proper rebuild

Siakam doesn't solve our problems. Wouldn't do it. If KCP is going to be traded, it needs to be with someone who is exactly what we need. He was our 3rd best player this past 2 seasons

3 point shooting is nothing to brag about with this team. Caruso and KCP are not good consitant 3 point shooters. What week were they number 1 and 3?? In practice?LOL

Like the first 2-3 weeks (more?) of the season. Give or take. And he wasn’t saying they were. Odd comment. Where were you?

kcp and ac both shot 40% on the year. that's great. kuz shot 36%. that's good enough. kcp and kuz went cold at the wrong time, which could happen to anyone's specialist replacement option, too. i'd prefer to keep the guys who are familiar with the system and already won a ring here.

schroder's the guy who disappointed from deep all year long. maybe we shouldn't trade him and just let him walk. maybe the danny green virus is transmissable via trade.

Rob needs to look at the team differently philosophically. I know traditionally the Lakers have gone big lineups up front and control the game but we just saw the Dpoy get destroyed in team lineups while the clips had 5 smalls.

We need guys who can play multiple positions

It's AD and Bron decision ... If they keep refusing playing the 5 and 4 for the majority of their minutes , Pelinka and Vogel options will be limited .

Realistically, at this point in his career Bron is either a 4 or a pure PG for us.

we'd have gone AD at 5 and won by 30.

was it great offense or just exploiting a unique weakness? houston did the exact same thing to utah two years in a row in the playoffs. it's less about lue's genius and more about personnel on both sides. really think ibaka's injury was a blessing in disguise for the utah matchup. no temptation to play a big.

yeah. we won a title their way, so i shut up about it. but we're nearly impossible when those guys play up a position and just "quite good" when they don't.

With how the game is played today, I think some new roles such as the ones listed below would make a ton of sense. I mean, Kyrie is a combo guard but with the amount of switching in today's league, how many players end up defending the same player throughout the game? Everything is being switched. The list is old but it makes a ton more sense than just limiting a player to five positions. It worked decades ago but much different league today.

    1. Offensive Ball-Handler. This guy handles the ball and specializes in points, free throws and shots attempted, but is below average in steals and blocks. Examples include Jason Terry and Tony Parker.
    2. Defensive Ball-Handler. This is a defense-minded player who handles the ball and specializes in assists and steals, but is only so-so when it comes to points, free throws and shots. See also: Mike Conley and Kyle Lowry.
    3. Combo Ball-Handler. These players are adept at both offense and defense but don't stand out in either category. Examples include Jameer Nelson and John Wall.
    4. Shooting Ball-Handler. Someone with a knack for scoring, characterized by above-average field goal attempts and points. Stephen Curry and Manu Ginobili are examples.
    5. Role-Playing Ball-Handler. These guys play fewer minutes and don't have as big a statistical impact on the game. Hello, Arron Afflalo and Rudy Fernandez.
    6. 3-Point Rebounder. Such a player is a ball-handler and big man above average in rebounds and three-pointers, both attempted and made, compared to ball-handlers. Luol Deng and Chase Budinger fit the bill.
    7. Scoring Rebounder. He grabs the ball frequently and demands attention when on offense. Dirk Nowitzki and LaMarcus Aldridge play this position.
    8. Paint Protector. A big man like Marcus Camby and Tyson Chandler known for blocking shots and getting rebounds, but also for racking up more fouls than points.
    9. Scoring Paint Protector. These players stand out on offense and defense, scoring, rebounding and blocking shots at a very high rate. Examples include Kevin Love and Blake Griffin.
    10. NBA 1st-Team. This is a select group of players so far above average in every statistical category that the software simply groups them together regardless of their height or weight. Kevin Durant and LeBron James fall in this category.
    11. NBA 2nd-Team. Not quite as good, but still really, really good. Rudy Gay and Caron Butler are examples.
    12. Role Player. Slightly less skilled than the 2nd-team guys, and they don't play many minutes. Guys like Shane Battier and Ronnie Brewer fall under this position.
    13. One-of-a-Kind. These guys are so good they are off the charts — literally. The software could not connect them to any other player. Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard are examples, but you already knew that.

Ok, how about Schroder + Kuz for Hardaway Jr + Finney-Smith?
