It is really hard to keep myself composed on this particular subject. David Stern is no longer alive and there is a level of disrespect you can have for the dead, but Stern ruined the Lakers after that veto. Gasol, LO, our 2 and 3 were so hurt, and when they had to come back, the damage was done. Kobe would have had a legitimate shot at getting 6 and not having to shoulder the load and who knows what would have happened.

Kobe played 3 more years of Kobe ball, there would have been other moves to put it together and we would have likely seen a Lakers vs Heat, Kobe vs Lebron, CP3 vs Wade finals. So much got lost with that veto but more than that is it took a weasel like David Stern to stop the Lakers 5 decade run of excellence. No one else could. No other team could stop them. It took a dictator piece of crap to.

I love me some AD & Lebron, but Shaq & Kobe every day of the year. Shaq could move Davis with ease and Kobe is too clutch for anyone.

Yeah no contest Shaq vs AD and prime Kobe would guard prime LeBron better than LeBron could guard him. Talking half court here of course 2 on 2. Prime LeBron with a head of steam in the open court not much you can do but try to wrap him up at Kobe's own peril or hack him. And you don't play full court 2 on 2. :p

Of course Shaq couldn't guard AD on the perimeter either. And truthfully I've never understood why if a defender has position on you that a stronger player with more mass like Shaq is allowed to keep bumping and banging the defender backward in a straight line rather than having to go "around" him.

    This is kinda dumb.

Didn’t see this anywhere. Lakers City series Jerseys leaked. Not sure what I think, but I do know i want the Mamba Jerseys as standard Lakers colors forever.

I think this is a MASSIVE upgrade over the last two (the Shaq and Magic inspired jerseys).

weird suggestions, and obviously not a laker fan writing this.

bet against prime paul and kobe, moron. and no, houston doesn't get harden without the paul deal falling through.

this may rile some people up, but i firmly believe without that veto kobe would still be alive today.

I thought this was fun, especially the 2nd clip where the defender almost breaks in half, looks like Woody whenever a human walks into the room in the Toy Story movies.

What's weird about that comment is it creep'd into my head too. I wonder why though? Why do you think he would still be alive?

Short answer - butterfly effect 100% (that ideology has always fascinated me as well)

Long(er) answer - Kobe has a prime CP3 as his running mate, doesn't get burned out, we don't hire mike d etc. There are just so many things that don't happen or don't happen the way they did. Of course this also means maybe we don't win the 2 titles that we did when we traded for Pau.

But if the trade off is Kobe being alive today w 2 less titles vs our current state, I'm going Kobe.

Many might not like that stance but I was a Kobe fan first before anything else. I love the lakers and always will, but man I LOVED the Kobester.

My hope is that on the 1 year anniversary of his death ill finally be able to watch the celebration of life.

I appreciate you guys responding and asking my train of thought.

Why would the Pau trade be impacted? That was years before.
