I mean, he could possibly start with his shooting. The starters don’t need a true PG. They need spacing and Cook and Green can give it to them.
I watched a lot of GS and I don't think he was used right by Kerr. Plus, the unit he played with wasn't a good fit. He has a really nice jumper and can get to the rim. I think he is a sneaky good signing and will definitely be improved from his time with GS.
Whoa!! Didn't realize Quinn had trained under Larry lethal shooter Nance with the fly away left hand. Maybe our real new shooting coach can make him even better? Or just leave it alone if the numbers don't take the usual come to Lakers % drop.
Loading up on shooters... I wholeheartedly approve this approach. Great way to maximize spacing and unit efficiency (who'd a thunk). Shame it took us a year to figure this out. But better late than never.
We had him last year, Alex Caruso. Cook gets cooked on defense every night, the other two are rock solid defenders
Good signing now lets get bradley! Or justin holiday. I know hes restricted and isnt the best catch and shoot guy, but i think signing kelly ubre would be some nice youth and athleticism.
Nice interview with Cook during the Lakers summer league game right now. Talked about how his father and family are Lakers fans, how it’s a dream come true. Most interesting thing to me was when asked when it sunk in or felt real to be a Laker, he said when he spoke to coach Vogel and Kidd, and when he got into the Lakers player’s group chat. Nice team chemistry building going on. It was also a nice break from Sam Mitchell’s incessant rambling, man if he were my coach I might go insane after a week.
I don't see Cook with the starters which will be a half-court unit, he'd be exposed there. A bit undersized, small reach, he isn't switching off either. I see him coming off the bench with a fast-breaking unit. He's quick, makes fast decisions, with Bradley, Rondo, Caruso there's a bit of a log jam at the point, he's gonna get a little play just so we don't overwork the others, I mean, there is going to be some real garbage time with this team.
He rated out as 97/100 PG in defensive RAPM. Man that's awful. Between him how bad Cook is on defense and how bad Rondo looked last year: this makes the Bradley signing more critical. Bradley certainly had a few bad years reflected in his bad RAPM after getting paid and leaving the C Bags but he at least passes the eye test in terms of being a decent defender. Platooning Bradley and Caruso at the 1 on defense with Lebron playing 1 on offense maybe the way to go here particularly when the playoffs come around
