Im perfectly fine with Pau as a Bull, he made a good decision by leaving. That being said, they're still not winning a title. Don't know how or why, but they will blew it... or Rose/Pau/Noah will get injured.

Remember when Pau averaged something like 0.75 PPP out of the post?

No I'm not mad at all he is gone. He routinely got outworked and pushed around by small forwards to centers. He has fresh legs and a great system to cover all his weaknesses, more power to him.

I am pissed that we didn't get ANYTHING for him.

So Pau is an All-Star starter this season, and it's well deserved. Talk about revitalizing a career, congrats to Pau. Marc made it in the West too, it's gotta be pretty cool to face your brother in a game like this.

Pau did not play that well for Phil either... he got punched in the chest by the Zen Master. He needed a scenery change.

Gasol was outplayed by that kid from the Miami Heat today. Flustered him so much that he lost it at the end of the game.

Pretty sure I've already said this word for word, but I'm really rooting for him this season, would love nothing more than to see the Bulls take out the Cavs in the playoffs.

Hmm, interesting read by Ding as usual. I can't disagree with him that the Lakers hung on to Pau too long, which was always Doc Brown's contention here and at CL.

But the thing I want to know, that once again got totally glossed over, is what happened to Pau in that last year with Phil. He was a shell of himself. We've all heard rumors and then Phil came out and said Pau had an undisclosed family issue. All I know for sure is that he no longer had the fire he used to have. He was empty, and he did next to nothing for us in the playoffs especially. That's one of the biggest reasons he was on the trade block. He had just been given a three year 20 million per season contract extension. And he got Phil so frustrated that he hit him in the chest! The Zen master! That takes a lot. Where was his vaunted mental toughness then? That was the beginning of the end.

But yes, it was incredibly awkward for the Lakers and Pau both after the trade got blocked. We were screwed, period. In retrospect, though it's true that we probably should have still moved him instead of enduring the awkwardness that followed.

I'm glad for Pau that he's on Chi town and that he is contending this year. I'm rooting for the Bulls to come out of the East for sure. I'll always be a fan of the Pau that elevated us back to championship level. But I'll ALWAYS be mystified as to what happened to that player, that person. Until that is explained to me I have trouble having any sympathy or empathy for Pau and his case. The guy who was one of my favorite all time Lakers disappeared that year and I've only seen rare glimpses of him since. I wish him luck though.

not that i thought there was much of a chance, but his statements in that piece regarding his brother's FA were saddening. and also why i wanted the lakers to actually sign decent players this past offseason instead of stash money for next year. people simply don't think they can win here.

^Yup. Abeer, this is why I'm ok with that strategy as well...but we badly need to get picks....rebuild through the draft, and retain our young talent. Ship off Hill, Boozer, Lin..try to get 1st round / 2nd round picks for them. Develop Clarkson and Tarik Black...develop Randle next year....get top talent in the draft...I mean that's our only way to get better....

Considering the Lakers plan on running a "Thank You" montage and passing Pau shirts or something like that, I wouldn't think so.

A standing ovation is what he deserves. Is Kobe going to be at the game? Or home recovering?

He was in a lot of pain apparently, but still saw Pau before the game. Awesome gesture from him and a good gesture from the team to honor him before the game. Great job by the fans too of not being jerks and giving him a standing ovation.

Still... Pau reverted back to "Laker Pau" for a minute there in Overtime. He let our aggressiveness get the better of him at times.

Gasol was outhustled by Wesley Johnson on the put-back in the second OT. Well, I wouldn't say outhustled exactly given his mobility isn't what it used to be. The TNT crew put Rose on blast for not using him and Butler while trying to rekindle his own past glories.

Rose definitely looks like a different player than his MVP years. He's a lot more selfish now than he used to be.
