Super impressive statement wins against upper echelon Western Conference teams the Suns and Nuggets. Also they put up a great fight against Portland too. I really, really like what I'm seeing and the return of AD to dominant form has got to have these teams getting nervous about the playoffs and the return of the King as well!

Yup and we beat Brooklyn and Utah last month, no AD, no LeBron. We can beat these good teams. Now if only we can beat medicore teams, oh and the Clippers. :p

Looks like Portland has a tough last 3 games coming up; hope they drop all 3 and we win at least 3 of 4. If not, the play-in game might actually benefit us cause we can use all the practice we can get to build chemistry.

It's hard to know where we want to wind up, seeding-wise, since the top of the heap is still in flux. You never want to risk a single-elimination game, but it's totally conceivable that falling to the 8th seed would actually benefit us. I certainly would not mind playing the winner of DEN/DAL in round 2.

I have a feeling we'll see Memphis in the 8th spot after tonight.

    So here's the situation.

LAL - vs HOU (WED), vs IND (SAT), @NOP (SUN)
DAL - vs NOP (WED), vs TOR (FRI), @MIN (SUN)
POR - @UTA (WED), @PHX (THURS), vs DEN (SUN)

We have an outside chance of clinching that 6 seed

I don't think we WANT the 6th seed.

utah and phx are separated by two games, so i wonder if either is taking their remaining schedule very seriously. dallas *should* win all three, and portland *should* win at least two, since it definitely behooves them to avoid the play-in. they could lose twice if their guards aren't hot, and they haven't beaten utah or phx all year. will be interesting to see what denver does for the last game.

we want to avoid the clippers, who have had our number and kawhi isn't worn down currently.

If Utah beats Portland tonight, they secure the top spot. So they will play hard.

Suns have been sliding, but they will be motivated to beat the Blazers tomorrow for one reason - so they can avoid the Lakers in round 1. Portland would be playing desperate, but still on a back to back. I can see Portland losing both games.

Denver is tanking that last game. They are 4 and would not want to help the Lakers avoid a play in. Denver getting Dallas is a dream match up.

As I said before, there may even be a scenario where 8th is preferable. But at the end of the day, if you have any choice in the matter, you take 6th seed and avoid the play in. You just can’t risk a couple of weird games not going your way and missing the playoffs entirely.

    Unrelated: IT’S BANNER NIGHT, BAAAAAAABYYYYYY!!!

At this point, we'd probably like to be in that #7 spot. Sure, Curry can always go nuclear in one game and win it by himself, but we're the better team with some elite perimeter defenders... they can make his life more difficult. Having an extra game for Bron to gel with the others isn't a bad thing at this point. They don't need rest, they need to develop chemistry. And this gives us some good matchups early. Just IMO, of course. And for us the play-in is not one-and-done anyway.

I'm pleased that we've at least secured the 7th spot. Portland will probably lock in the 6th spot, but I wanted HC over GS or Memphis for the first play in game.

i think portland is eyeing the 5 spot hard. then they get a denver/utah path to the conference finals while the other bracket has all the scary superstars (paul, lebron/AD, kawhi, luka) duking it out until only one is left.

Holding out hope that we somehow get the 6th seed. But even if we didn't I think going up against Curry and GSW is as good as it gets for prepping for the playoffs. Lakers will take them seriously
