Not looking good today. Irish down 14-0, fight back 21-14. Now up 28-26 at the half. 26 points. They can't stop UNC.
I'm very scared about the FSU game. If I were FSU I'd go no huddle and let Jameis beat the Irish defense. UNC showed how to do it. This will be the first time UND has to contend with athletes at least on a par with them. Stanford is strong as heck, but they're not anywhere near as athletic as FSU. Could go either way, but I'm hoping Notre Dame can pull this off (lifelong UND fan, did my PhD at FSU, used to tutor in the athletics department there).
David Robinson's son is turning out to be a really good wide-out. Goldson reminds me of Charlie Ward. Not really a fan except when they play that college team that plays in The L.A. Memorial Coliseum. Last year, when the Irish beat them in South Bend, I immediately called a friend who went to that school, yelled "Touchdown Jesus!" when he answered then quickly hung up.
Struggled to put away Navy. And "struggled" is an understatement. Sure didn't help their chances of earning a playoff invite.
I've really loved this 6-0 start, BS loss to FSU, countless injuries to defensive starters, and the most miserable end to a season I can recall. Loving it. Awesome.
Disappointed...just because they lost to that team that plays at the L.A. Memorial Mausoleum. Wanted to salvage football weekend with UCLA choking against Stanford and the Raiders getting spanked big time.
Saw bits of the game at lunch today. There were six players they listed as draft worthy. 1 wide out, 2 O-linemen and 2 linebackers and a corner. Didn't get their names but you might know who they are taking about. Raider worthy?
TE Ben Koyack - he's not the best TE out of UND, but they have like six TEs in the NFL right now, and I think they produce the best all-around TEs in the NFL (blocking, receiving, route running). Koyack is only average among ND TEs, but he's big and has good hands. Probably not worth a pick given that we have Rivera and either Ausberry or Leonhardt (sp). Ishaq Williams is an OLB. I think he's a BEAST. Not sure we need another OLB though. Maybe if he's there late in the draft (and he might be - fifth/sixth round). Conor Hanratty is a solid OL. ND produces a lot of quality Offensive Linemen, and Hanratty is likely another one. A solid late round OL with a chance of becoming a longterm contributor. This year isn't going to be ND's best draft class. They're relatively young.
Notre Dame looked good against a Texas team that has some serious issues. Texas was pretty humiliated by their performance, and they should be. They're a better school than what they've shown of late. Malik Zaire looked great. The defense looked as good as it did prior to Schmidt's injury last season. I'm curious to see what Taurean Folston's injury is. He's maybe my favorite player.
Game 1: Starting RB Tarean Folston out for the season. Game 2: Starting QB Malik Zaire out for the season. Never has a win felt so empty.
Game 3: Lost TE the week prior; likely lost #23 - starting DB - for the season. That's four starters in three games.
http://collegespun.com/independents...down-running-back-georgia-tech-yellow-jackets You can check out C.J. Prosise's 91-yard TD run in that link. Sick.
Struggled early, but the Irish put a pounding on UMass. Clemson next. This should be an interesting game.
