Marc's game is a delight to watch. We all love his brother, and Marc playing in the PnG is icing on the cake. With that said I worry about a few things, with playoff games in mind - foul trouble, durability and his coverage on shooters.

His paint defense is elite, because of his positioning and hand quickness. But at this stage of his career, Marc is open to having refs call him into foul trouble... mostly because he absorbs contact and does a lot of his defensive recovery with his arms/hands. If he becomes unavailable for whatever reason, and all we see is Trez at the end of the bench, I think that is a cause for concern. There is still a need to pick up a back up big man imo.

right. people were in love with dwight howard (who totally screwed the franchise in the past, in case people forgot) last year for being similar but less fun to watch.

IF marc gets hurt, i'm guessing we'll cut him and bring in somebody with a large a** to deal with jokic. otherwise, AD is our center, and it's a poorly kept secret.

That's fair. Marc is healthy and I may be sounding the alarm too soon, if at all. I don't have the minutes breakdown, but it seems like Marc is resting in the 2nd half of the past few games?

The need for another big man may also be limited to the Nuggets and Jokic, and maybe the Blazers off the top of my head. If the SIxers are for real and we see them as a finals contender, I'd also want another big man in that event.

It's funny you bring up Dwight in that context. Because I think many people like Dwight (or at least his story) for that same reason, but on the flip side: they don't want to remember him as the guy who, in actuality, screwed this team a few years ago. I'm a little in column A and column B. We all love a redemption story.

Tough for Marc to defend the PNR by hedging ... He's doing what he can

I'm happy with Marc so far. But, yeah, we could use one more big body to carry us to the playoffs.

Marc is not going to get faster so we have to play to his strengths and put him in a position to succeed. So far, we haven’t done that. He’s an excellent passer and we need to use that skill more. He definitely needs to stop picking up quick fouls though.

I think it's still a feeling out period for all our new additions. Schroder and Trez can get going without help, they don't do it as much as I'd like, but that's not Marc's game or what he's here for. So if we aren't properly utilizing him, I think it'll be more apparent than if we aren't maximizing the other two.

Marc Gasol is doing his part. We knew from the beginning that he was going to be slow footed and bulky out there.

He's averaging a career best per minute production in rebounding and blocking shots. He's above average in passing as well. Marc isn't the problem here. We can't compare Dwight to Marc Gasol defensively. Worth nothing that Dwight+Javale were a liability at times in the playoffs so it's not like it was always perfect in the center position.

When the playoffs come along, AD will likely move into the center position for many games and Marc will be used for strategic purposes. I don't think the Lakers need another center, honestly. Marc Gasol was mainly brought in to be a floor spacer and passer but it's tough for the guy to get going when Schroder+LeBron have the ball 90% of the time. This is why it's on LeBron and Schroder to play off the ball more and become screeners to set others up for Marc Gasol.

Although my favorite play from him was when fat a** Beard bounced off him and fell down and turned it over

Looks like we tried to involve him a little more. Put him in position for corner 3s. Ran a couple give and goes much earlier in the game. Tied Bron for a team high 5 assists.

Even his missed 3s look good. They're nearly all 1 Lance Stephenson gust from dropping.

The margin for error on this one...

helps when it's harden defending--you don't expect him to have his hands up or be paying close attention.

He put the Euro in Euro-step is all.

If they're going to let Dwight do this, then Marc can do that all day

I love how you can see it happen before it happens and there's nothing the teams can do about it because it's almost always on point. The one he got Schroder with was a thing of beauty. Easy points and forces teams to defend Marc Gasol whereas they would just sag off Javale+Howard.
