Yeah. Melo deservedly got the love, but Monk had his best game yet, with his most pts & asts for us, on good shooting #'s, 57%/67%/100%, and sharing the +/- lead for the game with Melo at +19!
Monk and Melo as our bench scorers is perfect. These guys are both capable of getting red hot from three and can score in a variety of ways. Once we get Ariza, THT and Nunn back the bench is going to be in great shape. Add in Dwight’s infectious D and energy and we have ourselves a 2nd unit that can actually stretch leads instead of giving them up.
He's winning me over in a big way. And he's only 23! We need to figure out a way to keep him here long-term.
Any cap magicians aware of potential ways we can retain him long term? I’ve been under the impression that it will be close to impossible. We don’t have bird rights so the best we could offer would be our MLE.
I love that kind of confidence (2 quotes above) in his shooting ability. No wonder he does it so well with that great form.
This season may depend on if Monk can be adequate enough on D to stay on the court. He's not only a talented offensive player his skillset on offense fits better with the Big 3 than everyone else on this roster (able to finish at the rim, catch and shoot, pull up off closeouts, run out on the break) He got roasted by Poole in game 1 but hasn't looked as bad the last couple of games. If he's able to become an average defender this team will be as hard to guard in halfcourt as it is in transition.
Man, what a huge bomb!!! This guy is going to be our X factor this season. Let’s hope he can significantly improve his D.
