Ramona was just on NBA Today and said it's good they showed a united front today, BUT from everyone she's spoken to around the league she's been told this is one to watch over the next couple weeks.

I'd rather have no coach announced by season's start than have Doc Rivers coach the Lakers.

Both are horrible outcomes but one is clearly worse. Thank god.

Yup, just saw this segment. That quote from her is AFTER Morey said that Doc will be back next year. She specifically mentions the Lakers coaching vacancy as well. Also brings up how Doc is still under contract so obviously he wants the money he’s owed on his contract.

Reading between the lines, I almost wonder if this is a game of chicken between Morey and Doc.

Maybe Doc wants to come coach the Lakers. And Morey knows this and would be fine with making a coaching change. But Morey’s not just going to fire Doc and have to pay him all that money to walk. From Morey’s perspective he’d rather have Doc resign and give up that money, or even better convince the Lakers to trade for him.

    Go Matt Barnes!!

He's staying at least through next season, IMO

Too much money left on his contract.

Doc was never coming here. That guy is old school, you don't blast a team for the way they fired their previous coach, but now YOU want the job? That s*** never made a lick of sense. The media doesn't have a clue IMO.

The way we operate, leads me to believe that we already had our top two candidates in mind, before we fired Frank. They probably weren't a unanimous decision, so we are exploring options for a third guy, and whatever assistants that we plan on sticking on the eventual HC staff.

Lol at them being closer to a championship than us. As bad as it was last season if we somehow get the right pieces for Russ, possibly THT in another trade, more top quality ring chasers see that and join up, and LeBron and AD have a healthy season, we are more legit contenders than they ever were or are. We won it all 2 seasons ago, they haven’t been to the conference finals since 2001.

Embiid is better than AD and Lebron. Maxey looks legit as a third option, if they still had Butler they’d be favourites. If they resign harden I don’t see them winning a championship (unless Harden can rediscover his form, but there is an equally good chance of Russ doing the same - so not much).

    Yeah, lol.

On topic, just keep Glen Rivers away from the Lakers.

Jova reporting from The Atlantic that Ham and Stotts are "probably current favorites."

    No.

Regular season Embiid was this year. He has yet to prove anything in the playoffs. He faded yet again.

Im not talking historically, I’m saying moving forward.

AD couldn’t do anything without Lebron and never put together a season like Embiid just did. The reason why I add Lebron to it is because he is turning 38 this season and just doesn’t have the physicality anymore.

i mean, AD won 48 games in a stacked western conference in NO and showed up bigger in the playoffs than embiid did, but ok.

i think it's super disingenuous to throw NO's lack of success at AD. who else played there? embiid's been flanked by allstars for the few moments he's been healthy.

AD is frustrating but I think it is just all about health with him. A full healthy season, he is a MVP candidate. I know that is asking a lot.

    yeah, sorry--back on topic:

i'd be ok with a ham/stotts team if stotts were ok with being associate head coach or whatever. hell, we pushed kidd on vogel!

ok, i'm not a big fan of not letting the head coach pick his staff...

    I'm with that.

I think Stotts would be okay with that if there arren't any other opportunities (very limited right now) and we paid him.

Again, though, it's like his running partner, Harden; regular season wonder and playoff disappointment. Give me someone like Giannis or Jimmy Butler or Tatum. Guys who bring their A game in the playoffs.

Regarding AD never having a season like Embiid, actually he has and he also won a championship which Embiid never has and likely never will. In our championship run he was more of a force than Embiid has ever been in the playoffs.
