He’s never been consistently good from three.

    He's streaky.

He can go 0-10 and then 7-11. He's back on a cold slide but will soon go on a hot streak.

yeah, i said a few posts back, but lebron's taking seven threes a game and shooting 29%. AD and russ both shoot far fewer at 29% and get grief for it.

and yes, he's clearly doing it to preserve energy, much like his efforts on defense. seems like half his threes are legitimately bad shot attempts.

This is a bit dismissive in nature because it doesn't adjust for LeBron's volume/shot quality. As BBindex has noted, LeBron's shot making relative to quality makes him a solid 3 pt shooter. He shot 39% over a two season sample in Miami on a diet of higher quality looks.

Point being is that his shooting this season is miles below his trend over the latter half of his career. But this is the internet after all, where honest discussion has to first climb over some needless obstacle like "He’s never been consistently good from three". I'm not asking "why isn't he shooting like Steph? It's bad enough to at least warrant concern.

he can make open catch and shoot threes at a good clip. so could kobe, who shot a poor percentage but whom nobody would ever leave open. hell, harden's a career-long 36% shooter from three, but again, i'd never leave him open.

all these guys (steph, too, btw) take bad shots, but i think they don't have to do that. i'm ok with a heatcheck three/backbreaker attempt from my star here and there, but lebron just has a few too many of these attempts for it to be waved away as that kind of thing.

his offense has obviously been very good overall, but it could easily be a bit better. don't know if he's trying to make a point about not trusting teammates or something, but again, dallas beat the daylights out of us because luka kept feeding his cold-shooting teammates until they started dropping.

Well, I never compared him to Steph.
I couldn’t care less what he shot in Miami. I’m only backing my statement up with FACTS. Those facts support my statement. He’s been an average to below average 3pnt shooter as a Laker. This is based on the numbers. If you feel these numbers represent those of a “good” shooter, that’s on you.

So he’s retiring at the end of this year or asking for a trade then? Because next season will be the same thing, injured AD, “cap space guy”, mini MLE or whatever, 8 minimums.

Probably not. Asking for a trade would be peachy, but we’re not that lucky.

Nah, I think he will this off-season honestly, Rob isn’t fixing this team, he sucks a** as a GM. I could see both LeBron and AD asking out after this season considering how the FO declined to try to compete with them. Look at the quotes, he wants to compete, and we aren’t interested in doing so. Draymond Green replacing Russ and 8 new minimums isn’t competing haha, moves need to be made this season using Russ contract to take back large salaries. But yeah, man I’d love for LeBron to go nuclear on this FO just for fun, good old fashioned Laker drama, would love to see Rob spin that and Jeanie have to choose

LeBron actually made it a little longer than I thought without a real shot at the front office.
