if we live and die with lebron's three point shooting, we're going to die a lot.

    He's not a top 5 player anymore.
I don't think he has it in him to carry us to a championship throughout 4 consecutive playoff series.
He will still make good numbers but not with the enough consistency needed to win titles.
That's why you don't trade picks for anyone now, unless it's a star FOR THE FUTURE. Which is unlikely this season.

We just have to remain competitive enough to lure the next big thing. The sooner we accept that, the best for our franchise

The problem with this is -- your timeline is all screwed. We are commited to LeBron for the next 3 years (including this one). So... we are stuck in this situation, unless he retires, until 2024/25 season, when AD is going to be 32. Trying to wait until then to add a star for the future is... crap.

I agree with both sides of the argument here. This is why I still can’t get over the absurd LeBronze extension that handicaps the FO from building a well rounded team. They are going to Star chase, by trying to add a third, while leaving themselves no room to fill out a properly balanced roster. This will only work if LeBron gets frustrated and demands to be traded. It is incredibly asinine thinking. Because of the timeline, if they don’t use the Firsts to bring in complementary mid tier talent, the team will remain exactly what it is: one not deep enough to compete for a Championship. What makes this the most maddening is the fact that they are wasting the prime years of AD who has recently shown he’s ready to take the mantle from James.

We have made many glaring blunders beyond any doubt. For me the biggest one was giving away Ivica, followed by Caruso, I had Russ as the biggest blunder but since he has shown better attitude I am ranking that third (only tiny decimals separate these), Lebron extension is right there with the others. Before it has all played out extending Lebron may be the most costly. There are many more but these stand out to me as being particularly painful.

the lebron extension was about the long game. i think management understood that it wasn't going to help us in the short term, tbh. but they can't say that to fans publicly. same reason why the press was having a field day about us not signing lebron to an extension. remember that? lakers are in trouble; lebron hasn't signed an extension!

anyway, we take care of our aging stars...provided they bring us a ring. you can be next, luka doncic!

Yeah, I see the LeBron extension the same way I saw Kobe's final contract. It reflects a firm policy from the Lakers organization: "when you're an all-time great and you help the Lakers win a ring, we take care of you, no matter the cap-space implications. Full stop." It's a message to would-be superstars that are considering forcing their way to the Lakers. It would be nice if Kobe and/or LeBron had declined the higher salaries in lieu of rosters that could help win more games, but too bad. They earned it. That's the policy. And in the long run, probably a good one.

yep. my beef is with lebron and kobe not choosing to be smaller parts of better teams to end their respective careers. but that's their choice.

i know boston's everyone's dream right now, and it was built on opposite policy. but we still have more rings than them since those choices, and players don't want to play there because of how they've treated some of their marquee guys (IT in particular, good lord).

Yeah in terms of on court value, he's not worth the 46 and 50 mil he'll be getting starting next year. Maybe for business proposes, but you can't field a great team with him eating up that much cap. We need the salary cap to rise a good amount to offset some of that. Hopefully the next CBA agreement helps with that.

He looked incredible physically tonight. He turned back the clock... But PLEASE I beg you no more off the dribble threes down the stretch. It's torture.... I'd literally rather anything else but that.

Yeah I have no idea what this team is doing in crunch time. Like lets go away from what's been successful and run the entire shot clock down and take a BS shot that misses. Other team grabs board and races down to score in transition. Rinse and repeat..

Over and over and over. We did this under Vogel last year as well. Different day same results.

For a player considered to be a BB genius, he surely makes some incredibly dumb decisions in crunch time. Just sad and incredibly frustrating to watch.
