I feel safe saying his scoring record will never be broken. It's taken nearly 21 seasons averaging 27 points just to get here, and he's probably got another 2 seasons left in him. When you consider how few players have come even close to these numbers out of the thousands that have played in the NBA to date, it's impossible to picture someone coming and long and playing for longer, at a higher level.

Passing 20k points has almost been a right of passage to making the Hall of Fame

40k really puts that in perspective

I saw recently in an article Klay Thompson being mentioned as potential for the Hall of Fame. Wondering how other people feel about that… was he good enough long enough to get there?

    19.6 / 3.5 / 2.3

I don’t feel like he has done enough to get there honestly.

    He’s like 45% shooter overall, but 41% from 3.

    Solid defender. Championships. Clutch.

still just doesn’t feel like enough to me

He’s in 7th on all time list of 3pt baskets. Lebron is #8 and will catch him most likely. Kyle Korver is ahead of him at 6, and his % was slightly better than Curry.

I’m not sure about #2 at all

If you look up the question online, it is a debated topic. Those who believe he will make it in primarily based that on being a Key member of four championships versus his individual statistics.

Ray, Reggie and Korver have around 1300 games. Harden 1050. Lillard 830.
    Klay has 770.
He has 4 chips, being part of the big 3. He has the highest 3pt game (14) and had twice 12 for 3rd highest.
He and Curry together made one of the best backcourts ever. That Warriors team changed basketball. He, Curry and Draymond are for sure HoF

I guess I just don't see it quite so clear cut, but you may very well be right. But if being part of the a championship squad was enough, I'd have thought a few other Lakers would have gotten consideration.

Steph didn’t win all of those Chips on his own. He couldn’t have done it without another consistent scorer by his side. I think you are being persuaded by this version of Klay, instead of the dude who could ignite just as quickly as anyone who’s ever shot the long ball. Plus, he played pretty good D when he was healthy.
I’m a firm believer in “the numbers will never be able to tell the entire story.”

    LeBron - absolute BEAST man.

25/7/7 on 60% TS is insane in year 21. Only two other guys in the league are putting up these numbers - Luka and Jokic - both are MVP candidates and honestly if the Lakers record was better, LeBron would be in the conversation for MVP too.

We can't rely on LeBron like this though to "save us". I hope he rests tonight, we shouldn't need him for this game and he deserves a night off (i'm still upset that he ssat the Warriors game but I guess this kind of makes up for it).

To be truthful I was fearing the worst at the minute and a half mark or so that LeBron was going to overdo the hero ball and cost us the win he “almost” made possible.

    Honestly surprised he's playing

Hopefully we can sit him after 24 minutes or so.

Still a big athletic truck out there. Then he has to take a tumble near the baseline on a fall away he’s fouled on and just for the hell of it he takes an extra tumble roll on the hardwood in front of the Lakers bench cracking them up like a big kid in a bounce house. LOL incredible.
