You must have missed his last seasons. He would chuck, just like everybody else.

I meant pre achilles injury Kobe .

2012-2013 ( since it was his 17th year too) Kobe would have been way better than Lebron was last night

If he’s dealing with his groin again different location and made it worse with the first quarter collision with Beverly then yeah that would affect aggressive play the rest of the game. He grabbed there while on the floor and personally I doubt he was faking the pain. And as mentioned these don’t heal quickly. Houston we have a problem.

What % of the mid range and long range jumpers had crazy degree of difficulty added to them by Kobe training to make them much harder to contest by not only having great elevation but falling backwards aggressively as well. That’s how he shot the ball because it gave him one more edge on the league. Learned from watching Jordan and like many of his technical skills taken to an even higher level. Lost art. Too difficult. How many players today barely even elevate on their shots, let alone fall back. More about speed of release. Kobe had all of it. All the skills.

I miss Kobe’s persona, and miss him pre-Achilles injury. After seeing him come baxk, I knew it was time for him to hang it up. He was just chucking away and piling up the losses

Kobe comment aside (and we know from way before Dirk has a ton of respect for Kobe), Dirk really was an absolutely amazing player, and an even better person. Through his whole career he was one of my favorite players both because of his game and his personality. I had the opportunity to interview him once in 2012 and he was just as great of a guy in person. He's one of the players I trusted the most for a last second shot.

Also, about Kobe, with the decade over, I think it's time to remember my favorite basketball moment of the decade (I don't even know how many times I've seen this game and highlights of it):

Post-achilles Kobe was mostly kinda hard to watch, but this last gift he gave us was something else.

Yes it was. And Utah NEEDED that game for their playoff standing, so no Kobe farewell tour gift. I too have watched many times and shared the recording with fellow Lakers fans that missed that game.
