and where ever he goes - he makes teams better. Way, way better. Now at his age I can't blame Lakers passing on him as General Manager. But and its a big "BUT", the guy is shaper then 90% of the current NBA executives. Lakers wanted Paul George two years ago, but balked. Lakers wanted Leonard but struck out. Enter West after leaving a sterling record at Golden State Warriors, and he hits a "HOME RUN" out of the park with the Clippers. Yes West is the Man but I still think Lakers better this coming season.
Not so - but who else in the NBA gets the "Medal of Freedom" from the President. Surely not anyone from the ciurrent Grizzlies executive staff. Enough Said.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Kawhi conspired with PG on this. He got George to basically request a trade and OKC literally handed the Clips him on a silver platter, no rumblings. It was a backhanded move.
Jerry West can KMA. Man is dead to me, after that crap show. 40 year fan. Didn't ever think I'd say those words.
Ahhh - Look up at the golden flags at Staples Center. Gee I see J. West name there and it goes on and on and on, etc. He is on Mt. Rushmore but you guys can't handle that.
Oh no...I respect West a lot. I meant "done" as moved this thread to NBA Discussion because he is not Laker affiliated. He is part of Laker lore and always will be.
west will forever be a lakers icon. his playing days aside, this is the guy behind the showtime lakers and shaq-kobe years but aside from that, he sure is a salty old man. still mad over how things ended with the lakers and how we didn't bring him back a few years ago (which was a mistake but still.) i have zero doubt he tried stretching this kawhi thing out as long as he could to **** with the lakers
Jerry West is legendary for good reason. He's certainly the greatest team architect I've ever seen. Those Lakers championships as a result of his work alone would be testimony. But he also did a killer job with Golden State and unfortunately now the Paper Clips. Props to the Logo no doubt. I would never underestimate him. I said so when we passed on him a couple of years ago. I thought we might rue that day and now we do. Once again he put together a team with two superstars in their prime. Sadly it was for a different team than ours. Nothing to do about it now except to beat that team.
Mr. West is an absolute basketball genius and savage on and off the court. He is also a tormented, joyless man. The pain of losing and competitive drive are the wife and mistress of Mr. West. I never understood the conflicting reports him coming back to join us every time he becomes free. Everything in all of his interviews suggest that he is competitive as all hell. Why on Earth would he come back to fix the mess we kicked him out of? Undeniable Laker legend. One that's been working and competing against us since 2002. It's the name of the game. He's a bad man, we all knew it. But Pelinka made a similar trade for AD and Magic got us LeBron. Give credit where it's due.
Look up in the rafters? Soon as I saw JW's jersey, I'd send the crews up there to take it down. I'd unretire his number and give it to the first scrub that wanted it. I don't care who, what, he is. He's the enemy now. Whoa boy, is he the enemy.
I just don't see the point of admiring people who are thinking day and night about how they can beat us and are obviously working against our interests , that's all.
