Can't the Lakers bring him in as a scout or player development guy, give him $2 million, and he can basically do all the things he is already doing minus not actually playing in the games? He could still participate in the practices as a 'player', still coach and guide the team, still be on the road with them...
The Heat gave Myers Leonard a $9 million deal, when he was essentially just their bench cheerleader. Dudley and Leonard basically had the same amount of playtime for their respective teams this postseason. So yeah if we have an open roster spot left, Dudley on another minimum deal would be nice.
Why can't the Lakers just offer Dudley an executive position with the team? He's likely not going to get any minutes next season and we could use that roster spot.
With Dwight gone, we need a cheerleader. McGee needs help rooting for us, especially since fans won't be in the stands.
I thought he was effective when he played. Everyone is acting like he wasn’t for some reason. timely stops in D, timely shots on O great locker room voice and mentor for the young guys. Love it!
Think he was a big factor in why the locker room chemistry was so good last year, hope we bring him back.
Same thing the Heat are doing with Haslem: Haslem is clearly more of an assistant coach but there is a difference as he is with the players on the courts, locker room, etc. It's a great concept basically a sneaky way to put a spy in there lol
I don’t think we can afford to use 2 roster spots on non playing players. Just Dudley I’m ok with because he’s a great team guy, and he can still contribute a few mins here and there, but Pau is done.
Yeah when I said we should definitely bring back Dudley for the minimum as our 15th man cheerleader, I wasn’t aware of how restricted we’d be by the hard cap. If we only have at most 4 minimum deals left to fill out the roster, I’m not sure if Dudley is still in the cards unfortunately.
