Without Caruso and Dudley to hold the team together on and off the court, we’ll get to see what he can do.

I like that he brought in another coach that’s probably better at offense than he is. His defensive coaching seems great.

but this is an entirely new roster, and that doesn’t usually work well.

To be fair he's never had the offensive firepower he's gonna have this year. Those Pacers teams really only had Paul George. LOL they had Roy Hibbert as their starting center. The only decent players they had was David West, Lance Stephenson & George Hill

Roy Hibbert. Man, my boy got one of his Laker cards with a jersey swatch back in the day. Have no idea what happened to it.

What happened to Roy Hibbert's career is mystifying. I remember the one playoff series where he seemingly forgot how to play basketball. I've never seen anything like it.

@LTLakerFan, the link above says Vogel’s extension is only for 1 more year. So he has a total of 2 years left on his contract now.

Not sure what to think here. Ballmer greasing up his talking heads, or the truth. Apparently after the LA Times reported a 3-year, they later retracted. I don’t know if they then specified one year, but here’s this:

Wait. Isn’t this his final year of the initial three-year deal? What did I miss?

Edit. I’m dum. This season + next season = 2 years. Got it

We're still hoping Ty Lue takes our offer?
    We want Luke back?
    Mike Dan Tony round 2?

What could we possibly be looking for? Get the guy his offensive help and contend every year. But objectively, he's been underwhelming on offense.

I'll go along with the sentiment here from most everyone that last year was an aberration due to injury. We were very good offensively when we won the title.

I hope this isn't true that they only gave him one more year. He's done an outstanding job and let's be honest here, LeBron's not the easiest guy in the league to coach. Ask David Blatt or Ty Lue. Vogel has filled in seamlessly and deserves more then a one year extension imo.

I’d agree, but I’ve seen nothing to think Bron and Vogel are working well together, in fact, Bron seems to be a fan of Frank’s.

That was my point. Vogel and LeBron have done very well together.

I think that at the current state of our franchise and the all-in we are putting while LeBron is around, we don't want to commit for more than that.
We want flexibility in case LeBron says "Fire Vogel"

Vogel's earned more then a one year extension if that rumors even true. That's almost lame duck status as well. And if this is in fact true proves my point even more why he should have been extended longer. He's so not about himself, can look past his own needs for what the FO is asking and is exactly the same for the players.

    This is sad if true

    We need to be careful.
Our offense last year was horrible. No idea whatsoever

I like him and love the focus he puts on D. He is also low-profile which makes it more difficult to understand his exact impact on the team. He did a terrific job keeping the team afloat through defense when we were plagued with injuries.
All in all, I think it's fair that he has 2 more years to run it. If we win a ring, he's staying. If we don't, that's 3 in a row without the gold so it's only natural to go with someone else

Last year was an aberration=doesn't count. The argument for Gasol has been we were hurt all year and that's what hurt the offense, Gasol was the bright point. Now the blame is being passed to Vogel?

I look at it with different optics. If it wasn't for the job he did with the team and it's injuries last year we wouldn't have did as well as we did. Winning the title in his first year was also basically a masterpiece.

Everyone also talks about loyalty from the organization and why stars are willing/want to play here. It doesn't work the same way for staff who have done nothing but produce? Vogel isn't out there beating his own drum so maybe the recognition of just how good he really is isn't on everyone's radar. He took Pacers teams that weren't near as talented and got the best from them hitting the playoffs and nearly upsetting the Heat with LeBron, taking them to 7 games. He has the most wins in Pacers history and the list goes on and on.

By all accounts LeBron loves playing for Vogel and so does everyone else. He's a players coach.

This is all irrelevant if it's more then a 1 year extension but if they didn't...also I would have taken Vogel over Ty Lue and Monty Williams. Williams would have made it a difficult decision though
