Yeah, but he only shoots two per game, so it's almost irrelevant.

so DAJ couldn't get a game for the Nets and he's going to play for us?

don't see the point in this unless Marc is really going

But remember Nash and Mike Dan Tony we’re coaching, and he’s 7’. So basically useless. :)

If anything, Jordan is insurance if Howard is ejected/suspended or Gasol (if he stays) is in foul trouble. Maybe he can give us full tilt five or six minutes here and there.

    Not washed

Signing ANYONE weeks before training camp tells you what you're getting. Yes, I get this was a buyout situation. But entering the signing evaluation with role in mind should tilt it in the positive direction. There's a reason he was dumped by the Nets. There's a reason he was bought out by the Pistons. He's flawed. It's September. This isn't day one of free agency. There's also a reason we signed him.

The masses: who cares about adding another wing, we need a big!
    Lakers sign a big
    Masses: I don't like it!
    :Javaleidontknow2:

Trying to limit role speculation until the Marc situation is clarified. But none of our bigs are playing 82 games. It's handy to have someone who can start and then go sit and get 3 DNPs in a row. No personal agenda. Get enjoying the return to Cali and chasing a 'ship.

We did need another big body and Jordan is only 32. Our culture is much different than Brooklynn and I'm sure he'll play defense or he won't play. Start Gasol and have Dwight/Jordan for hard fouls lol

Nets gave up on Dj for a guy who has heart problems, that should speak volumes on Dj current basketball abilities/contributions

Who's out there that fits that mold?

Cousins? No. Biyombo? Struggled to get PT with Charlotte. Ed Davis? I've got the pom-pom's in hand, but I'll be the first to admit he's a question mark at this point. There's no others bigs rumored to be hitting the buyout market.

So if you can't find that, you go BPA. Seems they wanted someone who can play minutes but doesn't have to have minutes (same with Rondo). Someone who can help us try to recreate the McGee/D12 dynamic, about as close as you'll get with who was on the market.

He was not a plus defender with the Nets, but the Nets aren't a defensive team. We have a great defensive foundation and actually value that side of the ball. He can still be a blocking threat.

Based on what we've added, I think we have some guys who want to get out and run and some guards who like to throw the ball towards the rim for the bigs to go get it.

I think most of these vets will have something to prove. Most are being called washed, done, too old, etc. These are proud former All stars and in some cases, Hall-of-Famers. We've got plenty of bulletin board material... that's for sure.

    From Pelton's ESPN piece..

Not having to switch nearly as much will definitely help and actually puts him in position to succeed. Something a championship coach understands and a rookie coach (who never played 1 possession of defense his entire career) simply did not.

Great point. Jordan isn’t the defender he was but our defensive concept will benefit him. And as a deep bench guy who really cares anyway?

Although I think the shot at Nash at the end isn’t totally true. The nets are just trying to maximise their big 3 and switching works better for them.

if he's our third big, great. if this means he's our second big because gasol is gone, we got worse.
