I think he's underrated here. People put Bryant on top of him. I say the opposite. This guy will average double-double with 2blks. AD will love him
On page 5 of this thread there is a link to Buha's article that says Jones will be coming off the bench.
I like Jones a lot from his earlier stint here. I'm rooting for him. I get why Bryant would potentially start over him as stretch 5. Makes sense. But Jones showed himself to be pretty capable of being a starting defensive minded and pick and roll center also. Nice to have these two young players whose games seem complementary not redundant. I like Huff too from summer league. His game is sort of a combo of the two from what I saw. He looked like a legit NBA player as well. For probably our least important position I think Rob did a nice job of filling this spot at least. Obviously Turner would be a big upgrade but Indy isn't budging.
I think it's a real important position for this team and am glad we have seemingly some great depth and size and rim protection and mobility there now. Jones I think was also working on shooting the 3, but yeah both Bryant and Huff both seem capable.
i'm with lakerjones. i actually think damion jones is the better overall player compared to bryant, but if we're starting lebron/AD/russ/bevs or reaves, your center basically HAS to be a shooter. that was a big problem last year to start out.
I hope they both play a lot, that's means AD is back at the 4 for the most part. Great idea all the way around.
I hope that Huff makes the team and plays too. I like all three and they are capable of different things.
Absolutely.. I mentioned that about Jay in another thread. I lose track. I love bigs..the game has changed but if you have two 5's that can shoot from the perimeter and still do bigman things. Along with a traditional run the floor, rim runner that will challenge shots. That's a win, win, win to me. And we STILL have AD!!
Wouldn't cry about that one..Cole has a shot though might come down to him or Gabriel. I like that kid too.
Hope so..I hope for a big man heavy rotation this season. Maybe we could set a trend instead of trying to follow one, like we did in the chip season.
I sorta love this kid. I was upset we didn’t keep him but I’m thrilled he’s back. He’s a super likable player. Opposite of BevMo.
seems a bit quirky for an nba guy, but he's had some good role models/mentors. i don't think he's destined to be more than he's been, but tbh, what he's been is an improvement for us.
i've liked his activity on defense, but his offense has been rough. his catches basically need to be finish only, because everything else has been scary. pair that with bryant also looking shaky, and i'm less confident in the c rotation than i was a couple weeks ago. hopefully, it's just guys getting used to the system.
I think you're expecting too much. McGee and Howard were the same. That's what you want next to AD. A big body to throw out there to protect AD from some matches and a guy who can get rebounds, protect the paint and finish lobs. Our offense creativity needs to como from all our guards and LeBron/AD. Our centers shouldn't even dribble the ball
I think he'll get better offensively. I think Wenyen might be ahead of Bryant in the rotation at the conclusion of preseason even though he's undersized.
Regarding our centers, this system doesn't seem designed for true centers. Bucks play Lopez, Portis and Giannis.what they need to be is a plus in defense. We need 3 blocks a game between Jones and Bryant Maybe they start figuring out the offense later, namely Bryant who can thrive with Russ. Did they play together in Washington? Probably when he got that great run of games he was playing with Russ actually
