5 not a concern... 4 is a above moderate concern mainly for depth. I want our geezers saved and fresh somewhat for the postseason run.

Lol. Our Geezers. That should be our nickname for this year’s team.

Thanks to sirron, I’ve realised the truth - Lebron isn’t the best player on this team anymore. It now belongs to the Olympic hoodie himself.

But for real, anyone think Melo will turn back the clock for one last bounce back season?

EDIT: and what would turning back the clock actually mean?

i feel like he's going to show up in great shape because he knows this year is probably his last best shot at a ring. if he plays well, he can lock up 20mpg as a backup pf on what could be the league's best team, and if he wins a ring in that role, his will be a far better legacy than it appeared to be a couple years ago.

as far as what it would look like: hyper efficient scoring with passable defense, including several games in which he busts open games to get our stars rest, and maybe a 30 point playoff explosion on the road or something.

Theoretically, we have a potent scoring unit with mainly Anthony along with Nunn, Horton-Tucker. Ariza will take care of the dirty work and Howard will just do the dirty. They can cover for his defensive shortcomings at this stage of his career.

15 in 20 would be my simple expectation from Anthony.

My favorite show, who ever thought Matt and Jack would have their own show and on their terms. I sure as hell didn't but I'm glad they're doing their thing their way, shows lit.

Just got done listening. I don't know why they didn't do the interview a week later. Sounds like it was done the end of July, they talk about Durant being 6 points away from passing him on Team USA as scoring leader. If they wait, they could've talked about where he signed for free agency.

Enjoyed his Kobe stories about their battles when he was a Nugget and when they played together on Team USA.

Melo said his favor crowd to silence was Boston. :Carusohearthands:... he's going to fit in perfectly as a Laker.

I’m with JSM on this interview. Bleeping awesome. It’s hard for me to sit through one of these for that long, but I didn’t know Melo at all and by the time you get through with this I do a whole bunch more (still have 15 minutes to go) …. and I like the hell out of him. So much interesting stuff touched on. His tough neighborhood background where he managed to not get sucked into it. Meeting and sitting with Lebron for hours and clicking before they played their first game against each other as schoolboys. The friendships from that draft class. The Denver teams and playing against Kobe and earning his respect with the usual behind the scenes interesting stuff. Winding up in NY under Phil who apparently was kind of an a-hole during that period. Helping talk Kobe onto the Olympic team in 2008 and winning it that year with so many friends on that team. The whole “banana boat” thing and Lebron pretty much coming to rescue him in the water after current had pulled him further from the big boat following snorkleing and swimming back to the boat and out of gas. I would imagine before the end of this interview he’ll talk about his expectations for this team and finally getting to play with his long time friend, Lebron. Can’t wait. Well worth the time spent.

    :Carusohearthands:

Edit …. well damn I was wrong in that in that last 15 minutes they did not touch on this upcoming season. :speechless: Still a great listen.

He can only turn back the clock for an extra hour of sweet geriatric sleep. It’s the only clock turning back left. I think he can give 10-15 solid minutes every other game.

expecting more is setting us up for disappointment. If he gives more, great, but he is what he is.

LOL! The sweet geriatric sleep part got me.

I don't think he is as washed up as you assume. He played 24 mins off the bench and only missed 3 games last season. Portland also used him intelligently, when his shot was falling they rode the hot hand all the way up to 32 mins - and when it wasn't he played less than 20 mins. He can still score efficiently enough from the bench and as abeer said, he'll have a scoring explosion every so often and win you a playoff game.

After the first 17 games last season, where it looked like he was playing himself into form, he averaged 14 pts on 53% EFG and 57% TS. His net rating improved every single month. He was a +8 in may and a +4 after the allstar break in general.

You should. There's analytics that point out his defensive weaknesses as a real issue.

But whatever, peeps will find out during the season.

    Hoping for the best, though.

After his interview, I'm pretty sure he will be at his absolute best.
He bonded with LeBron the night they met. They talked until late night and had similar backgrounds. You can imagine the type of relationship they have.
They are in their last years of their career and have a legacy they want to leave, LeBron will never let Melo be something else than it's best. And Melo has the chip on his shoulder for not having a ring, I think it will be his best defensive year

i initially missed trae's name, and saw the guy handling the ball and was like...looks like trae young, but trae young would never pick up his dribble randomly like that...d****** pickup ball

and then i realized it actually was trae young! anyway, that's some low quality basketball right there.

if this is what we do in the offseason, maybe we just rest instead?
