Tucker is 21 and Caruso is 28 too.

You can’t look at one player’s salary in a vacuum IMO. We wouldn’t be paying anymore in luxury tax if we had kept multiple players for Russ’s over inflated salary. I can say she’s cheap if it’s my opinion. The Lakers need to be run as a 4 billion franchise that they are, not a five and dime discount store. There are a ton of financial avenues open to the Buss family if they are temporary short on cash. She herself said that they were “all in”. That to me means, we are spending whatever it takes and they didn’t.

    And another thread hi-jacked.

***On topic***, I would not part with Reaves anytime soon.

Reaves is a gem. So glad we have him. He’s the best thing about this season along with Monk and Melo.

    Easily.

This season should just be spending developing him and giving him reps.

He'll hopefully have a major role next year.

We're not just talking Caruso, Westie is 44 million. It would have been doable without Westbrook. If we can pay 164 mil with a chump like him we could have paid the same amount and retained Caruso(9), KCP(13), Kuzma(13) and Montrell(9) = the same, 164 million. You gonna tell me those 4 don't = Westbrook in value? 3 good wing defenders, what we could do with those guys right now.

I don't see the point of making these backtracking exercises.

We took a gamble. There were pros and cons. The cons won and it was a huge fail. Everyone including Lebron and Rob would make different decisions if they could go back, but we can't.

Time to move on and see how can we make this team work with this personnel, until we find a way to ship Russ

i think the discussion about not paying caruso is relevant because it may be a continuing problem in trying to compete with the gs's, lac's, and bkn's of the world. they spend like drunken sailors every year to put out the best possible product.

it matters in the reaves thread for two reasons:

    1. we'll likely have to pay him a lot in just a year from now.
    2. we have something of a history of not valuing young role players

reaves would be a top 5-6 player on a lot of teams, i think--including contenders. he's starter quality, imo. totally weird to say, given that he was undrafted just 8 months ago.

Yeah sure, I just don't think reminiscing about the past and playing what ifs does any good to anyone.
But that's just my approach to life

He was undrafted because we back door promised him a contract after not being selected in the 1st round.
But yeah it's crazy that he went to the 2nd round. Although it happens a lot with under the radar non-flashy guys

I'm surprised you responded to something that wasn't even directed at you.

    Then again, that isn't surprising.

To answer your question, the "We Suck" (accurate statement btw) is only reserved for The Optimism thread and the Westbrook thread.

Additionally, it doesn't also hi-jack pages and pages of redundant arguments that I see in every thread.

It also helps the quality of thread and it stays on topic.

You should really be thanking me for doing your job, Moderator.

I wouldn't want you to get a warning for not doing your job properly.

If you wish to further address me, just PM me.

On topic, I would lock up Reaves to a multi-year deal as soon as possible.

He's on his last year entering into this season. We don't need another Caruso situation.

I hope Reaves is in a Laker uniform a long time. However, if we lose him I’m 100% confident that our scouting department will unearth another gem. Their track record speaks for itself.

unless he's really stupid, that soon as possible would be next summer when he's a FA (unless i have my facts wrong). any extension prior to that would be tethered to his current salary in some way, i think.

he's a THT situation, where it makes sense for him to wait until the summer and try to field a huge RFA offer or get the team to pony up something big enough to make you forego it.

again, everyone forgets that this time last year we were discussing THT's likely 4/80 poison pill offers (including the press, who will now tell you they knew all along that he sucked--until he doesn't again and they bash us for giving him 3 years instead of 4...).

anyway, it's not caruso because he'll be RFA, but it is THT, so may god have mercy on his soul around here.

Sooo much pot-kettle in this post.

You were just recently spamming threads with your "We suck". She was pointing out the absurdity that now you have appointed yourself a shadow-mod.

Regarding your redundant arguments concern: welcome to fan forums. Expect 75%+ of site content to consist of redundant arguments.

Regarding taking concerns to PM: why didn't you follow your own advice and just PM Cookie instead of attempting to publicly mansplain her?

    Shadow-Mod? That's funny.

    Hi, Time. How are you?

    Reaves is really good, huh?
