i mean, he's shown it on several occasions just this year. and his most recent injury is far from a career-killer. he's literally the least of this team's problems, imo.

There is no doubt he has the skill. The drive hasn't been there since the championship. Talent wise he could be star for another 4-5 years. The only thing I doubt is his desire which is huge.

    Look at his results bro

when do you think Zion peaked? There’s a good chance it’s already happened.

He got hurt though..seriously he's averaging better numbers this season than last year. He is actually pretty close to the championship season averages. It was a lot of chaos going on around him before he got injured. I'm not worried about AD...IF he's healthy. That is becoming a concerning IF tho.. I can get with that take.

Definitely only the availability I’m referring to. We may have seen his peak availability seasons already. Hope I’m wrong of course.

Abeer, at this point, how do you rate AD in the NBA top? And how's your confidence moving forward with him as the leader post-Lebron?

idk i see it as lebron has gotten into AD head about the importance of being playoff ready.

i think he steps it up and judging him mid season is not going to matter. he has seen lebron prolong his career and he probably wants to do the same.

That would be a sad story - so much potential. But the guy is set for life if he’s smart.

i think i went over this in detail several pages back, but he's still among the elite superstars in the league for me. i'd trade him straight up for giannis, jokic, or luka. after that...i'm really not sure there's a 1 for 1 i do. people forget he's 28, not 32, so it's possible he comes out of these injury-plagued years and looks like he did for most of his career, which was basically an mvp candidate/perennial all nba player. and he plays both ends.

the only question is injuries, and many of the folks that people pine for (embiid, kd, curry) have similar injury pasts or presents, and a lot of them are older, too.

who are the players everyone would trade AD for, since people have the forks out? maybe morant? how long do you think his career is going to last with his style of play, speaking of injuries? trae young? same, and also can't/doesn't defend. KAT? has never played defense. jayson tatum? i'm not as impressed as most, tbh.

durant and curry are more valuable today, but going forward have as big or bigger injury questions.

so yeah, pretty comfortable with AD has our centerpiece in the next couple years, but we have to get serious about building around him. we haven't consciously sought guys who work with him (dangerous ballhandler/scorer, 3 and d guys, one enforcer). the title team approximated that (with lebron sort of filling the first role), but we've been going away from defense and not focusing on getting AD the ball in good spots (he's often catching 20ft+ and not on the move, unless it's a lob).

despite all this, his down years are better than even many allstars' good years.

as for the injuries, we just sort of have to roll with them. lots of other teams and players are dealing with similar things, tbh.

I don't think we'll see a healthy AD ever. Is kinda like Kawhi, you can't not factor the number of games they'll miss + reshaping. You have to plan a season with that in mind

I don't remember to see a full month of games by AD without his health being a topic, either because he's returning from an injury, or he's limping or wtv. He's always all taped up like he's a broken cup lol

Meh..frankly looking around the league for the last couple of years, there aren't a lot of Ironman superstars out there IMO.

He used to be. Hopefully, we can see him get back to this level by season’s end.

this was my point earlier. and i'm still interested in everyone's lists of all the players you'd rather have than AD.

i also disgree that we haven't seen him dominate since the title. we've seen it plenty, imo. just not as often as people want.

A list of bigs, or any position?
To fit with LeBron or build around when LeBron leaves?
Players that are possible to trade for, or guys that will not be moving anytime within the next few seasons?

you're acting as if it's a long list, so i'd say no restrictions. list all of these guys. 1 for 1 trade, in a vacuum (no lebron, etc.). just, you get one star to build a team around for the next 4 years.

    Morant
    Giannis
    Tatum
    LaMelo

This being said, I haven’t given up on AD and I think he can get back to Championship Form.
