Pass on McKinnie. I think if you're going to play him, you might as well stick THT there who is more promising. THT is undersized but he's got the hands and athleticism to stay in front of SF's. I'm not a fan of McKinnie lack of scoring capabilities. He can't even hit FT's so why waste a roster spot on him? I'd go with Batum all day than McKinnie.
no point in keeping mckinnie and bell with cacok on the roster if they do end up keeping one of them, it'll likely be bell. but i have a feeling they'll both be waived
McKinnie’s contract is for three years. I don’t know how the partial guarantees tie into that, but I imagine that means we keep him for now.
I don’t think it’s a big deal since it means we get Gasol. I’m sure you could do worse for a 14th/15th man, at worst he takes Dudley or Cook’s cheerleader spot.
No, even by keeping McKinnie, you get more breathing room under the hard cap. This allows us to give Gasol a 2 year deal, and I think potentially still give Markieff his 20% raise, and then two more minimum contracts. Without this trade, we only had room for 4 veteran’s minimum contracts (only one year deals).
I think Bell gets stretched... is that the right term here? McKinney is a wing player you can have on the team for depth. Realistically, there are no negatives here. He's 28, tall wing player to play 10 minutes, if that, to play defense as hard as possible and hit an occasional FT, where he's pretty good. He played 14 MPG with the Warriors, was a 5/3 player, even hit 35% of his threes. What's the problem here? He gives us more than, say, JR Smith.
