That is a classic apples and oranges comparison that you are making Slick. I mean, it's logical to believe the 34-year old Bev's shooting woes are the result of being washed, while the 28-year old Rozier's shooting woes are the result of having to be the star player on an awful team.

I replied to that as well. I think in the Russ thread? Russ value comes from AD having a career year with him and our bench being one of the better ones in the league. So basically playmaking and energy.

The people that always attack him about him being a stat chaser seem to leave out that his teams win an insane percentage when he achieves triple doubles. Playmaking and rebounding help in getting wins. So does attacking the basket.

How to build a roster comes down to the FO. I mean we have flexibility to trade Bev and Nunn for 125% of their salary and Russ the same and go deep into the tax and spend really big.

Hypothetical assuming the other teams accept it:

Trade Russ and a 1st for Kyrie and Harris
Trade Bev and Nunn and a 1st for Turner

Resign Kyrie to the max, Resign Turner to 25m, Resign Reaves with his bird rights, resign Lonnie. Get another mMLE player.

That’s 3 stars, another sub max all star, and 4 contracts higher than a minimum.

    Kyrie / Reaves
    Lonnie / Christie
    Lebron / Harris
    AD / mMLE
    Turner / vet min

But the repeater tax will bankrupt us in 2-3 seasons.

yep, so you're saying the three stars make it hard to build a team?

I’m on your side here. I want 2 stars and a decent supporting cast.

But I don’t agree that 3 stars can’t work. In fact, 3 all stars has worked most often since 1990.

Insane eh? Let's take a look, I just looked at his '20/'21 stint with the Wiz where he had 37 tripdubs and they won 59% of those. Not what I call an insane percentage.

I don't know if Bev is washed or not, but I don't like him anyway. However I'm pointing out the 3pt shooting could revert to his career shooting numbers, just like Terry. He could be just adjusting to a new situation and teammates too. Maybe Terry needs to play with an actual PG? He's really a small 2.

Back to Terry..he's a high volume shooter from deep..kind of a poor man's Steph or Dame I guess. He's still to small and is owed too much long term cash to be my 1st or 2nd choice in a trade.

Umm, check out the rest of the Washington team. It was Beal and him and G leaguers - and Beal was injured. That’s an insane amount.

Russ teams have won 75.1% of the time he records a triple double. That’s on track for a 62 win season.

People also bring up advanced stats - yet Morey who is the advanced stats GM, said that all their internal and not shared stats (many of which take into account player influence on those around them) had Westbrook giving them a higher win percentage than Chris Paul after going to the WCF twice.

Maybe they both need a fresh start. Regarding Terry: Yeah he is a high volume shooter from deep, we need that. Also, by point guard standards, he is not that small. Similar size to the ones we already have on our roster. His contract is actually very reasonable for his production, especially with the cap going up. He is cost controlled, and his contract sort of gives us a hedge against inflation the next 4 years or so.

Thank you for making the point I didn’t have to. With every new CBA, it’s become harder and harder to build a 3-star team AND have the rest of the squad be filled with decent talent.

Do the Lakers have any second rounders to give away?: Nunn/Bevs for Poetl/Richardson works but not sure losing the second year of Richardson's contract is enticing enough for SA

only way to build 3star with good supporting cast is organically via draft....even now gsw is struggling with a MAX contract guy off the bench in poole and bunch of unproven youth

Yeah, Lakers don’t need another big- one who can actually guard someone when AD isn’t there.
Allen had the easiest 20 dunks I’ve ever seen a big score.
Jones is worthless and Thomas is only good on offense.

Maybe they were hoping for Jones to be that guy? Lakers need to focus more on adding players that complement these guys. I'm not a fan of trading for players for the sake of replacing other players while they are out. Of course it's good to have those players, but not they are a luxury, not a necessity. That's what the Russ trade was about. Need=Shooting=Hield > Luxury=Replacement for Lebron when he is not in the game=Westbrook.

Beal missed 12 games, most teams with 2 superstars are limited for the rest of the roster, that's life. Stop twisting reality and stats to suit your argument that is the absolute worst kind of debater there is.
