I literally just listened to it twice on the way to and from work today :D

I'll admit, I definitely think it was hyped up way too much. Even when I listen to it, I feel like there's something missing from it to put it into "classic" territory. And the "meaning" behind the album is overstated. There isn't some deep meaning that is too allegorical to understand. There a bunch of surface level individual messages on the album that are good messages, but Kendrick tries to make them deeper and more complex than they actually are. Well honestly, it's not even Kendrick that does this, but his fans (including myself) and the media that has gone crazy over the album.

But I still don't mind. I'm a Kendrick stan. I still think he's incredibly talented and this album has a lot of tracks that I simply enjoy. On top of that, I give him kudos for being the only mainstream rapper out there trying to put together concept albums with a message behind them instead of just bangers.

I know most of you on this board don't like them, but Kendrick and Kanye are the only mainstream hip hop artists out there trying to be creative.

Also, is anyone else tuning into the Drake vs. Meek Mills beef?

I like certain tracks by them, but in the grand scheme of things, they're both trash. This is a minor league rap beef. Pales in comparison to LL vs Kool Moe Dee, Jay Z vs Nas, 50 vs Ja, Pac vs BIG, Etc.

    Mostly because, Meek who?

Drake puts too much mainstream crap out, but So Far Gone is a classic IMO.

Based on the guest appearances (K. Dot, Marsha Ambrosius, X to the Z, IceCube, Snoop, and Em) I'm almost as excited for this album as I am the movie.

I'm a Drake fan. I understand if you don't like the mainstream stuff, but he's definitely one of the best at it. And yeah, the beef is a little watered down by the fact that Meek isn't very big, but this stuff is hilarious. Drake's performing at his OVO fest tonight. So far, he's brought out Future, Kanye, Travis Scott, Snoop, and Pharell all while putting up hilarious memes about Meek on the big screen. Rumors are that he's going to drop the final diss track tonight.

this pisses me off. he sucked at Coachella and didn't even bring out one single surprise guest. I like drake but he killed the Coachella vibe. and now to see him bring out all these peeps really grinds my gears haha.

System is my jam. Literally the band that got me into music. Random, but anyone remember SOAD or Satan over at CL? They were some cool posters.

I love classical too but I don't know too many specific artists or pieces. This is one of my favorites though. I don't think I truly believe this, but whenever I listen to it, it reminds me of a peaceful recurring dream I used to have as a kid so much that I think it might be connected to a past life...

I like it a lot. Not as good as his 2 previous albums, but that doesn't take away from its quality. I like that he brought in a mixture of vets and new people as guests. If I have one critique, it's that Dre isn't rapping enough.

Overall, I'd probably rate it a solid B.
