I think Ariza is the better on the ball defender. KCP is the better defender chasing guys off of screens. Both are shooting the same numbers from 3 this year basically. It's kind of a wash, but I agree that game on the line with a wide open shot I would go with Ariza, no doubt.

No, we’re gonna need Zu for one of several fillers for the AD trade.

Y'all are on crack if you think Ariza isn't a MASSIVE upgrade over KCP.

If we need to throw in Wagner, or Svi, or BOnga, or a first round pick to get it done? I do it in a heartbeat. Ariza would probably stay with us for cheap too after we get superstars this summer. And he's going to help us this year too...I mean look at how bad houston is this year WITHOUT him...

Well, I don't know if I'm on crack but I am watching Breaking Bad for the first time and am toward the end of Season 3. ;)

Ariza is an upgrade over KCP but not by that much to include a 1st rd pick, I do a 2nd or Bonga but no 1st nor Wagner.

I think people are forgetting just how GOOD Ariza is on a contender...

You pick him up...and he could be the difference between making it to the 2nd round or making it to the WCF.

I believe if we get Ariza....we're top 3 team in the west and very likely to get to the WCF. Especially if all we're giving up is KCP

Watching KCP getting torched by Derozan for 3 straight games just don't cut it anymore. Ariza would lock him down, plus Ariza can defend 4 positions.

For those saying Ariza isn’t the difference between winning a title and not, agreed. I’m all for getting him because he IS the type of player that can do the things that win you some key playoff games and be the difference between losing in round 1 or 2 vs getting to the WCF. Players like KCP have moments or stretches at key times of such utter stupidity that they can cost you games, ala Wes Johnson. Replace KCP with Ariza to finish tight games, tight playoff games especially, and the stupidity is limited. No player is perfect, yes Ariza went ice cold from 3 in game 7 of last year’s WCF, but before that he was huge for Houston, and it wasn’t just him, his star in Harden didn’t step up. Ariza is one of those complimentary players that plays big, but of course he’s not going to carry a team when it matters most.

Not that I've seen. The only new news I've heard today is that PHX could be talking to as many as 8 teams about an Ariza type deal.

That's your opinion. I'm not the only one thinking that way Keith Smith and Trevor Noah talked about just that in the LakerNation podcast. Rob and Mag did Paul/KCP a solid and if you don't think those count for anything well, many would disagree. To stay with a team that may add a max FA and might vie for a championship we've seen plenty of players take short-term lesser deals. Couple that with the fact that we overpaid for 2 years to in part appease to Paul as well as KCP. Yeah, they will look at those deeds and consider them. Not a guarantee they will resign for cheap at all but to say they won't take it into consideration is just a little short-sighted. Especially considering who Paul's other client is. One or even 2 years for a good price and he still comes out 27 years old and a chance to get a bigger deal.
