I was thinking something very similar to this. Keep Zion and you’re a 9-10 seed for the next 4 years, then he almost certainly leaves. Trade Zion and Solomon hill for Lebron/#4/kuz and the pels are in the finals guaranteed for the next two years. That team beats Milwaukee and maybe takes out gsw if kd leaves. Lakers can probably guarantee Kawhi to come with Lebron out of the spotlight.

    Lonzo
    Kawhi
    Ingram
    Zion

    That’s a young dynasty.

How are they guaranteed the finals for two years if they need to go through us?

If you think the front office is incompetent, I think the best case scenario is for a star to want to play with Lebron and deliver us a championship. Something that can realistically and quickly happen in spite of the front office.

Trading Lebron to switch approaches to a long term build around the young guys does not work if we have an incompetent front office in charge of that long term effort.

I'm no fan of Lebron but there's no switching courses now. If we wanted to build around the kids we should have kept DLO, Randle, Zubac, Nance, Clarkson, Bryant, Lou, etc etc etc.... and we probably would have been a playoff team.

Hopefully use the cap on some serviceable players who have value down the line as assets rather than MozDeng’ing our cap instantly.
