I just can't take all the boxing boys talking like MMA fighter are a bunch of sub par athletes who can't fight. Folks calling for a Mayweather to KO Connor in the first half of the fight. I will gladly eat crow if I am wrong, but man show some respect. Guys like Connor, Anderson, Stiepe, GSP, Mighty Mouse are super elite athletes with tremendous skill. I still say the smart bet is on 12 rounds of yawning, but now more than ever I am hoping Connor overwhelms lil fell and humiliates him, just to watch Max Kellerman , Steven A, and Shannon Sharp have a heart attack on live TV Monday morning....

I mentioned this in the boxing thread but it's worth repeating. Connor isn't going to box Floyd, he can't. Using only hands =\= boxing. There's boxing and there's various martial arts punching styles. Connors an amateur boxer but an elite karate/tkd/king fu puncher. The argument isn't whether or not connors a good enough boxer, it's whether or not martial arts punching can be effective against elite boxing. I think it can.

That's about what I expected. McGregor forgetting constantly it was boxing and doing illegal hits, Mayweather not even breaking a sweat, toying with the guy, then beating the crap out of him. It was just sad from round 7 or so on, this shouldn't have even been allowed lol. McGregor didn't even know to move his head he just kept taking punches.

Yeah but Connor won the first 5 rounds and gassed in the 7th.

McGregor did way better than I expected.

I was rooting for him in this one.

Manufactured drama. Floyd always plays defense for a while to start. Then he learned what he needed and pummeled McGregor. I wasn't rooting for anyone here, it was simply interesting spectacle. Credit to McGregor for taking that beating and not falling over though.

Connor gassed, he didn't get hurt that's all. That's not to say PBF wasn't gonna win, he dominated after the 5 and could have been given 5 too.

He was just outclassed. Can't ask a 0 - 0 fighter to beat a top 5 all time. Just asking too much. So yes, he did better than most expected and I give him credit for that, but ultimately, the fight shouldn't have happened.

I got to see the last round. Looks like the ref did the right thing once Mayweather started teeing off.

McGregor didn't have the defensive skills to use the gloves to block shots, only head/body movement. Becomes tough to do when you are toast. Smart game plan by the smaller man to let the bigger guy wipe himself out.

He also didn't clinch like he should have. If he understood boxing better he could have wrapped up more in the later rounds and maybe even made it into a decision loss

The other big hole McGregors game was he doesnt know how to.leverage his punches in a boxing context. It was clear that the spacing and angles effected him.just as much as it did PBF.

I'm shocked anyone would think this was a loss for McGregor overall.

We literally just watched Rocky Balboa. A novice took the 49-0 champion to the 10th round. How could anyone watch that and not be impressed? How could anyone watch that and feel like boxing didn't take a big hit? It would have been bigger if it was a decision. It would have been even bigger if McGregor had won, but people should leave this fight wondering: "can McGregor actually box?" which is a problem for professional boxing.

I am impressed McGregor lasted that long. I'm not impressed with this being a "win" for Mayweather though. This "fight" shouldn't take him to 50-0, it should be considered like an al-star game or something, not an actual game.

Agreed. Connor lost due to inexperience and fatigue. For a guy to go into another man's sport and do this well is very impressive. It was a win/win for connor anyways, so this raised his stock.

I'll say this Connor lasted a whole lot longer in a boxing ring than any boxer would last in a MMA fight lol
