Love how in the draft we've covered guys that can play 1-5.

Most updated depth chart. We need picks for next year, bring in expiring contracts MagLinka.

    Ball/CLarkson*
    Clarkson*(PG ability)/Hart/Nwaba/Dozier
    Ingram/Deng(Stretch 4 ability)/Brewer
    Randle/Nance/Kuzma
    Lopez/Zu/Black/Bryant

    I like it.

    Ball
    Clarkson/Hart/Nwaba/Dozier
    Ingram/Deng/Brewer
    Randle/Nance/Kuzma
    Lopez/Zubac/Black/Bryant

I like the starting 5. JC can help with some ball handling duties as Ball adjusts to the NBA game. Randle and Lopez are a fitting duo.
Still curious to see what we do for back up point guards. Ennis was interesting last season but we didn't pick up his team option. I hope we add at least one vet there though.

Fixed that depth chart for you. I expect Bryant and Dozier to be mostly G-Leaguers. They'll have time down there to grow against quasi-NBA talent and athleticism.

It's interesting to see who the Lakers will go after in FA. They said shooting will be the main priority... I have no idea what guard they could look into as a trade candidate or as a FA who is a veteran, high-character guy, that we could give a contract to for just one year. Ramon Sessions?

Patty Mills, Brandon Jennings, Jameer Nelson?
I'm going to have to take a look at expiring contracts later.

Thanks the couple thoughts guys. Totally forgot about Brewer, and didn't know Ennis was a team option.

Anyone trying to dump an overpaid expiring point guard we can swoop up?

I can care less if we brought one in. I wanna give Ball 30+ minutes a game. So Clarkson and Ingram just got to have ball responsibility duty for 10 minutes each tops.

You can still play Ball 30+ mins, the idea is to have a steady hand when Ball goes through rookie year growing pains.

Yeah I agree. I think we could get by without one... but a veteran PG would come in handy.

Anyone against bringing back Calderon or Ennis to help teach the system?

Okay a quick look at the finances:

    Lopez-22.64 million
    Deng- 17.19 million
    Clarkson- 11.56 million
    Brewer- 7.58 million
Black- 6.66 million (fully guaranteed on 7/4/17)
    Ball ~ 6.29 million
    Ingram- 5.52 million
    Randle- 4.15 million
    Nance- 1.48 million
    Kuzma ~ 1.42 million
    Hart ~ 1.39 million
    Zubac- 1.31 million
    Nwaba- 1.31 million
Bryant ~ 1 million (estimated minimum)

No cap holds with 14 men on the roster

We're at about 89.5 million with that roster. The cap is set at 99 million, so we've got only about 9.5-10 million to spend this summer on what is going to be a one-year deal.

As for next year, if we waive our Bird Rights to Lopez, Nwaba, Bryant, and Randle, we'll have:
    Deng (18), Clarkson (12.5), Ball (6.57), Ingram (5.76), Nance (2.27), Kuzma (1.49), Hart (1.46), and Zubac (1.55).

After minimum cap holds that comes out to 52.45 million. If the cap limit stays the same, that leaves us roughly 46.5 million to spend.

George would cost roughly- 28 million
LeBron would cost roughly- 33 million

So we don't actually have room for two max deals as of right now. We have room for one max contract and a deal worth roughly 18-19 million which is about 18-19% of the cap, quite a bit lower than a max deal for guys like Westbrook or LeBron.

We could attach a pick or two to Luol Deng to shed him and we'd have about 63 million to spend (still waiving our rights to Lopez and Randle). If we waive Luol Deng next summer, we can get up to 57.1 million or so (again still waiving our rights to Lopez and Randle).

If we shed Clarkson (trade for a future pick and/or expiring contract) and Deng (attach 2+ picks to him and throw him away), we can clear easily enough money to get two max deals and keep Randle. Although I figure if you add George and James to Ingram, you probably trade Randle.

Could just be me, but I feel like the writing on the wall for Clarkson is already there.

So with no Nick, trading of Russell and Mozgov, release of Black...

    Ball/Clarkson*
    Brewer/Clarkson*/Hart/Nwaba
    Ingram/Deng/Dozier
    Randle/Nance/Kuzma
    Lopez/Zu/Bryant

    17 Mill in cap space.

And after getting Pope which was just fab news... Heres the current and most recent depth chart by yours truly.

*Note*- We have to cut someone i believe around 1.5 million is the rough guess to make the room. Hope Brewer isnt given away but i dont care if it does happen lol.

    Ball/Clarkson*
    Klutch/Clarkson*/Hart/Nwaba
    Ingram/Brewer/Deng
    Randle/Nance/Kuzma
    Lopez/Zu/Bryant

Ton of versatility there too for small ball line ups.

KCP can guard PGs apparently. Like an Avery Bradley Lite. That is a very important resource this team needed.

Add Rondo and our bench looks scary!

Bench mob of Rondo, JC, Nance Jr, Kuzma, Brewer and maybe Zu if he gets his act together

    Jc
    Hart/Nwaba
    Brewer
    Kuz/Thomas

Noooo, do not want JC with the ball in his hands full time. He's incapable of running Luke's offense like Luke wants. Even Nwaba has less tunnel vision and doesn't get all out of control toward the end of the shot clock. We need a real backup PG, even Ennis is better than JC there.

What about just for 5-7 minutes.. plays the rest at SG. Think we're arguing a moot point doe cause I think we will sign a Pg at the end of the day but that could just be an NBA fans "obvious" opinion.

If Ball plays 34 MPG on average... I feel Ingram/JC can run the PG for 7 minutes each. Maybe the D doesn't catch on to tendencies or we simply execute good enough in year 2 of the system. Or less than 5 minutes for Ingram/JC and put in Caruso for the 4 and change lol.

Edit-Totally forgot to throw in Hart, knew it seemed like I was missing besides Dozier who doesn't deserve to be on the updated depth chart above. We're looking pretty good to shock the NBA and pull off a Wade/Melo deal if Hou flames out of trade talks.

Lol no to Caruso. I was not opposed to signing Ennis back at the end of last season, and I would not be now. He proved himself to be a capable backup for limited minutes.

And suddenly, we have an abundance of SGs. Really needed someone like KCP though.

Think JC is gone at the trade deadline if Nwaba/Hart show improvement and promise.
