dont think we have a thread like this? If not...

    Let's do it.

    Russell/
    Clarkson/Young/J. Brown
    Kobe/Young/A. Brown/Nance
    Randle/Kelly/Nance
    Black/Upshaw/Sacre

Currently, Nick is first one off the bench for any of our 3 starters due to being able to shuffle other two starters accordingly based on other teams matchup.

    OR

    Russell/Clarkson
    Kobe/Clarkson/J. Brown
    Young/A. Brown/Nance
    Randle/Kelly/Nance
    Black/Upshaw/Sacre

Projected cap space after players used above anyone?

Upshaw is not gonna make the team lol. Too Brown, I think Jabari gets the boot. We need veterans, I think Ellington will be resigned.

Yeah. I actually think Upshaw has a pretty good shot at making the team if he can keep his head on straight.

Yeah, I really hope he makes it too, and puts his problems behind him. Maybe we need to sign a veteran big to mentor him... Boozer? :)

I think Upshaw has a shot, but only if he knocks this thing out of the park. I think the most likely scenarios are-
    1. He flames out unfortunately
    2. He does really well and the Lakers put him on their D-League team to keep working hard and maybe a call-up later
    3. He blows everyone away and he gets a 1+1 deal like all the other young guys do.

I think it happens in that order though... I'm very cautious if I'm the Lakers messing around with Upshaw. Right now he's got a ton of upside, but he needs to rebuild his character before we welcome him into the locker room.

I kinda want this thread to be with current players we actually have that have a legit shot at making the team.

Yall got your wish with Upshaw. Lot of y'all wanted to trade up from 27 actually to get him. I remember mentioning in another thread that if I were him, I'd threaten not to play for certain teams if he slides so he can have the best opportunity to handpick his team. Mitch could've easily gave him that pitch. Here's to stealing another Clarkson/Black. Imagine if he wins the starting C job. Could be our own Hassan Whiteside, hopefully unlike Hassan he knows this could be his last shot and stays out of trouble on and off the court.

Don't rule out Stanford Brown starting at SF if he really is only asked to shoot the 3 and play D.

That's not a bad foundation before free agency. 4 playmakers and a clean up man. GSW here we come ;)

Best core we've had in place since we uncrossed our fingers after bringing on Nash and Howard. And before that you'd have to go back to...I don't know, a team that won a ring.

I really hope upshaw makes the team. If he impresses he has a real shot. It cant take that much to be better than sacre.

Im rooting for him. Yes he's had a few issues but he knows this is his last shot. If he messes this up I don't think he'll ever make it,im glad we took a flyer on him low risk high reward.

Like other people are saying he could be our whiteside.

The more i think about it, even though i was against it at first, deandre is a great fit for this team as its constructed

    Russ
    Clarkson
    Kobe
    Randle
    Deandre

If we keep upshaw we lose nothing defensively when dj goes to the bench

Ed Davis is a perfect bench big guy. I really want him in LA.

Apparently he wants to be here but money and fit is an issue... if we max a guy out then we're not getting him back probably.

I hope Ed Davis is back. He played really well as our center with his rebounding and block shots. He's also descent on the offensive end cause he can score in the low post.

I really think Ed,Black,Upshaw&Sacre is a solid group of big men that can matchup with several different small/big lineups and assuming Davis gets less than 7 mill, they'd all combine for less than 10 mill total. That's really great value with potential if Davis/Black further emerge, with possibility of Upshaw eventually making noise for playing time.

Seems to be having a center that can create on his own is a bonus and not a necessity with the playmaking players we'd have on the court with whoever is playing center.

Side note, to bring back Davis and sign LMA/Love(Gasoline still plan A for me), Young would have to get traded but honestly would be pumped to see what team has while knowing Kobes 24 mill coming off the books and cap also elevating.
