Am I missing something? How is he talking trash? What he said is accurate. In sports, all you can worry about is the current season and current game. You can't worry about what happened in the past. He is right. The Clippers have thoroughly crushed us the last few years. But he also rightly points out that he's not worried about us. He wants to win a ring which means all the other teams are equally important to beat. I know he's the owner of the Clippers, but what he said is pretty accurate. The only time he may have thrown a little shade is when he tried to make our championships seem like ancient history by making them 15 years ago as opposed to 7. But other than that, he was just talking about wanting to win a championship, not the battle for LA and that his team has to look forward.

Eh, he'd still do well to gtfo of our building and LA in general and go to Seattle or something. End the Clippers name, perhaps end the Clippers stink/curse. There's no point in trying to become the top team in LA, this will always be a Lakers town. Same with So-Cal where I live, we are Lakers fans.

I see, he's crushed a rebuilding team but because said team has history his organization can't compare to, it's somehow a boast.

Ballmar has peaked and plateaued with this group. Talk talk talk. Check it in 3-5 years. They need brilliant moves but we can see where this is going. They are going to get strapped with the under-achievers they have at top dollar for the 5-year maxs on all contract renewals. BG will continue to break like a pretzel, lose his athletisim and PG13 will be great but just not quite get it done. Jordan will get overpaid. They won't bring in a real GM because Ballard doesn't want to upset Doc. Their fate is written in the sand. Let him yak.

I wonder in what way the lakers felt he didn't fit? Their talent evaluation or philosophy of team building differs from his?

I had speculated spite (at Lakers for Jackson's treatment and for now not finding a place for him [where?]) or Jerry still needing the challenge. Probably a bit of the former but more the latter. West is one competitive m effer.

You can't find a fit for a guy who has built some of the greatest teams of all time as a consultant?

Yeah the refusal to bring Logo back as a consultant baffles me. And disappoints me. And kind of ticks me off.

Here's the thing guys, Magic and Rob just got this job. Having Jerry effing West hanging over your head means basically cutting your legs out from under yourself. If the team does well it's all Jerry. If the team does poorly, even Jerry can't save this dysfunctional franchise. If you disagree with Jerry, you're an imbecile and the media will crucify you. Jerry becomes the Don of the Front Office and your power and ability to affect change are deeply cut.

Personally, I still do it. I trust that we can get on the same page and any disagreements are kept in house. I trust that we can make things work to our favor with that many good minds in the room. But that's just me and I also understand their position. These guys deserve the chance to bring things around themselves.

For what it's worth, Jerry's interest in returning should be a great sign. He sees good things in our future.

I hate this. Jerry West is the single greatest evaluator of talent in the history of the NBA. You don't turn your nose up at that. He has bled purple and gold his entire life.

On top of that we are letting him go to the hapless guys in the same building? The guys who can't get it together to save their lives? If anyone can actually save that loser franchise it's Jerry West. And it's stupid to let him go there, IMO. That's tempting fate. I would have thought that we'd be smarter or more loyal than that, or both. Did he not put together the Shaq Kobe Laker dynasty? Did he not turn Memphis around? Did he not help assemble this insane Golden State team? This is worrisome.
