Apparently the FO liked Hibbert and/or the deal better than Koufos. All right.... feeling better.

We're discussing this in the FA thread, but I'll let this stick around. If he gets traded here then you're the proud owner of the Roy Hibbert Thread!

That means you have to defend him and be the biggest Hibbert fan on the site.

Done deal. Just working out the assets? These don't really go together.

Not so sure about this one. I'm not a fan of his. He's one of the most mentally weak players in the NBA.

Not mad at this. I could see Hibbert going back to being 1 of the best rim protectors in the league with such a big spotlight on him. We have some HOF's to work with him and keep him improving. I still want Biyombo but can't blame the FO for chasing the big name.

With Byron, Kobe, Russell, Randle and all the positive vibes, no one scapegoating him or beating him up, could be exactly what he needs to get his mojo back and 2nd lease on basketball career. He should be in his prime right now at 28. And I apologize to him for calling him a no nutt head case just a few pages back.

What a strange day it is when I feel good about or relieved by a trade for Roy Hibbert. If this does go through, I'm good with it. He's the best we can do on a one year rental, he fills probably our biggest need. I'm not a big fan of his after his meltdown in the playoffs (I was a fan before that), but we won't be in the playoffs so that won't matter. A change of scenery could do wonders for him, and being a veteran now, surrounded by a bunch of kids on a team with no expectations could help his mental state, if that makes sense. Plus, on his best days, he's better than Jordan Hill on his best days.

He's a top 3 rim protector in the league on an expiring deal and we are probably getting a pick in return to take on his contract. He has only missed less than 5% of games in his career.

It's a great move on every account.

with the 9th being the first day FA's can sign, seems clear this is going to be a sign and trade. Most likely for Jordan Hill, doubt the Pacers want Lin after just adding Monta next to George Hill.

Indy needed Hibbert to be more assertive on offense. I'm not too worried about him being mentally weak since we mostly need him as a big body and defensive presence

I also like it because he's going to need to show up and play well if he wants to get paid or have a remaining bright career in the NBA because he's on his last year of his current deal. I love the news considering where we are at now needing to make a play for some rim protection which Hibbert is the best we could get.

I am very interested in hearing the details of the trade though and hoping those will surface soon instead of having to wait closer to July 9th.

Well if we get him, Kobe will have to take a different leadership strategy with him...or he may cry.
