Adding to @ESPNSteinLine report on Rondo from yesterday. Sources tell ESPN the Lakers also offered Boston multiple picks & Nash for Rondo. Per Ramona Shelburne.

Good deal. They should jump on Nash.

Multiple picks AND Nash?! I'm sure Ainge had a good laugh at that one.

Dallas and Houston have continued talks today with Boston on a Rajon Rondo trade, league sources tell Yahoo. A lot of scenarios in play. Per Woj

Hill would be a good piece to that deal. Unfortunately, he can't be traded until January 15th.

I was thinking that this was an impossibility, but if it's Nash and picks, then I'm suddenly interested.

I'm not in love with Rondo as our PG, as I'm thinking that we need shooters rather than ball dominant playmakers. A central reason is that Kobe trusts shooters; he doesn't trust others with the ball.

Laugh if you want, but the Mavs can't be offering much more, right? This is Pau 2.0 for the C Bags.

I'm not down with dealing Hill and picks and Nash space just to land Rondo.

It's basically what our plan is for this summer, but we include the picks as well as insurance to get him here. I'm down with it.

I know we all would be fine with a slower rebuild with young pieces, but the Lakers clearly aren't. If we're hell bent on getting another superstar type player here, then I'm down with this trade. Nash/Picks/Lin for Rondo/Green.

I just think Nash and picks is laughable, especially since the picks we do have to give are going to be late in the draft or late in the decade. Throw in Lin and it at least sounds more reasonable, at least they get a guy who will see the court and "replace" Rondo immediately.

Trading Rondo here will make it easier to offer him a salary of 15 million/year. If other teams offer him 19 million/year for 4 years (76 million), we can match it by offering 15.2 million/year for 5 years (76 million).

Unfortunately, I think Boston is looking for more than just picks and an expiring contract.

@Weezy but isn't that the same problem we had with Pau? Maybe Boston just needs to get rid of him at this point and since he's going to be a FA in the summer they're just not going to get a great return now.

@revgen someone said the Mavs first proposal was Wright for Rondo straight up or something like that.

Only way Rondo is coming is ignore lobbies his way over here. Considering our roster, I don't see that happening.

Brandan Wright is junk though. :D

Look if we offer Lin and roughly the same picks as the Mavs, our offer would be better than that. Lin might not be great, but he's better than Brandan Wright. If we offered Hill I'd have to think Hill/Hou. 1st is the best offer they can get.

I say no to rondo. Keep our picks and wait til he becomes a free agent then go after him

If he lands in Dallas you might not get a good shot at him. Then what's left on the FA market that's worth our max deal? Aldridge? Gasol? Are either of them likely to leave their team for us?

you do it because if rondo goes to Houston or dallas, the lakers have no shot at him in FA. the problem is that I don't think the lakers have "multiple picks" with which to work. they can't trade theirs this year (already traded), and they still owe Orlando some. plus, can't give away future picks in consecutive years unless you own others in between already (lakers don't).

I think the offers are already too rich for the lakers, in other words.

I'm guessing 2nd rounders and maybe they have designs to flip guys like Hill and Lin? Also their 2019 pick is available!

ooohh...disagree. wright is limited, but he's really good at a few important things (finishing at the rim, blocking/deterring shots, helping hedge in pick and rolls). I'd prefer him to lin, personally. both are best as backups. hill can't be moved right now. also, Dallas's pick looks to be better than Houston's.

    lol. that's depressing.

anyway, I think if the lakers can move hill and lin for 1sts, they should do it ASAP, keep the picks and tank hard to keep this year's. then try to flip these assets for a star a la Houston/harden.
