Nail, meet head. Rich people have been cooking books and singlehandedly keeping the Camans open forever. I'd be interested how these figures differ if all 30 teams were full-on, federal style audited each off-season.
It boils my blood hearing these owners want more from the Lakers. It's not our fault your franchises aren't profitable. One thing I liked: the piece indicated that the Lakers are willing to revenue share because big market teams need small market teams to beat up on. Hasn't been true lately, but I love the superiority.
It's BS. Billionaires own most of these teams as side hobbies, while the Buss family business IS the Lakers, the Lakers are their income. The Lakers don't owe the league a thing, and teams like us have carried other franchises long enough. If teams like the Pistons lost 65 million last season, well maybe Detroit shouldn't have a team. This makes the idea of expansion laughable though. Maybe move some teams to more profitable cities before adding MORE teams.
realdeal can't possibly be correct, as espn has ranked the memphis grizzlies (run by former employee...) as the best franchise in all of pro sports. i reject the premise. give all your moniez to the bobcats. /comic sans
