If Bamba and Ayton and other young bigs thrive, the era of having no true centers won't last as long as some think. But they will be more skilled for sure.

sure. he looked good against a non NBA team. I'm not saying he won't have a nice rookie year but quality of opponent the other night was certainly overwhelmed.

i'd argue the era of centers died out temporarily because there was a short supply of skilled bigs. ewing, olajuwon, robinson, duncan, even shaq was probably more skilled than given credit for. towns, porzingis, jokic and some others will eventually make it so that you have to have centers on your roster if you want to win games again. then we'll get more erick dampier types, and the cycle will begin anew.

one could argue that it's just an odd coincidence that the league's top three teams don't really play centers (does capela count? he's small) heavy minutes. the rest of the league does, and when they try to go centerless, they get blasted by teams that have one (see our preseason). and those top three teams happen to have an incredible amount of talent on the perimeter. failing that, you better have a competent big. i'm guessing the lakers will be forced to make a small trade for one at some point.

I'm guessing the Lakers are going to risk it all for one of those bigs (Davis).

    Calling my shot now.

We'll see who blinks on the big offer. I have a feeling we'll win that battle since Boston almost always holds back.

I don't think they would hold back for AD.

They've held back for literally every trade ever. The only one they half way pushed on was Garnett and we know how that went down.

There's plenty of good trades we can do, but they'll include the players we've drafted. Are Laker fans prepared for that?

Something tells me this was about a move either about to happen or should have been about to happen and he wouldn't pull the trigger.

Or it could be the (unfortunately) usual: some sort of legal issue.

Make that now the 4 recent Spurs to go down with an injury and be out for significant time:

    1) Lonnie Walker - out 6-8 weeks
    2) Dejounte Murray - out for season
    3) Derrick White - out 6-8 weeks (though pop said it could be 3-4 weeks instead)
    4) Now Rudy Gay
