Mavs are the front runners apparently. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--C Bags-rajon-rondo-212808679.html
That would make Dallas an instant title contenders. I hate Cuban (love Dirk) but he's smart when adapting to the new rules/nba. Also... HELL NO to the Rockets.
Keep him away from the Rockets. But man Mavs would be so good with him too, wonder who they would have to give up.
If they're looking for expirings, we have Nash and Lin, plus Houston's first. I know that's not great, but Nash on the team does get them closer to the top pick this draft, and Lin is at least a pg replacement for Rondo. Who am I kidding, that's awful, I just want Rondo here, lol.
Ken BergerVerified account @KBergCBS Source: With C Bags engaged in trade talks, Rajon Rondo is 'open' to re-signing in Dallas or Houston. http://cbsprt.co/1zzGZWd
That's why I try hard to do this is I'm the Lakers and if we really want him. He goes to a winning situation, he might stay. If we trade for him, and he walks, we probably haven't lost much, if anything, we still have that money open. And if his presence here gives us a little turnaround and he likes LA and playing with Kobe and he stays with us, even better.
Here's the question though: would you take back Jeff Green wit him too? Green and Rondo effectively end our free agent re-signing ability, but we get the guy we want. The C Bags are trying to unload their veterans to take on picks. A package that could work for them: Lin or Hill/Nash/Hou. 1st/future picks for Rondo/Green Those future picks could even include another 1st round pick that comes later than 2017. I believe we gave a 2017 pick to Orlando? That would give us 21.4 million or so next summer to spend basically all of it on Rondo. We could conceivably move Green in the summer AND he's got a player option so MAYBE he opts out of that deal, but that's where you're at with the C Bags. If you're willing to take back Green as well as Rondo while sacrificing a handful of picks, Rondo can be yours I think.
I'd probably take Green, he's ballin this season. Unless I'm mistaken though, Hill can't be traded at the moment.
i think he's houston's if they want him. i'm guessing morey's playing hardball, though. ainge is using dallas to up rondo's value.
He can be traded on the 15th of January and he has a veto in his contract. We can get around the veto by using his player option for next season so he's essentially on a two year deal. Then we can trade him wherever we want.
The rumor is that the Mavs are thinking of trading Wright for Rondo straight up. Not sure why in the world the Mavs would do that. Having 5 (or however many they would have) PGs on your roster and no backup C sounds like a terrible plan.
the mavs really have about half a pg on their roster (devin harris). jjb is a tiny sg, nelson is washed up, and felton may have eaten an entire human while I typed this. they're giving up a luxury to plug a necessity. I'd do it if I were them, too. wright is an awesome backup pf/c, but he's also a FA next summer, and guys like him are easier to find than guys like rondo, imo. someone asked what Houston's offering. word is Beverly/greek dude/1st (guessing not pels). but supposedly boston wants t. jones and another 1st (guessing pels).
gasol-ish situation. he's not helping them win. he may very well walk in FA. they should have taken that crazy sac kings offer a couple years ago.
picks, wright, and at least one other thing (crowder is being mentioned) is the word now. still think boston is trying to get Houston to pony up t. jones and/or Beverley, though.
