    Amen to all of that.

I think Griffin is a realistic option. I'd think Schlenk would be intrigued depending on what the parameters were. I'd even be interested in some promising number two guys around the league.

That's an advisory role. West hasn't been a full time GM since leaving the Memphis Grizzlies.

yeah, i mean, bring him in if only to right the ship like he did for the clippers. he can retire after that if he wants.

edit: sorry, i meant bring him in as an advisor. i doubt he wants the full-time post.

I don't know if we should promote Ryan. We have been keeping it in the family for decades now. Ryan is a West, therefore he is family. We need to do extensive interviews with as many people as possible. The season is over. We have a month to do this before they would need to start scouting. Not saying we don't hire West, but it can't be before we interview several executives.

I'm with you on that...it would be hypocritical of me to say just promote Ryan since I did criticize Jeanie for her ways of hiring people, same with Jim, just no normallacy to their hirings

He’s not the GM for the Clippers. Consultant isn’t a full time job, general manager is (or should be of Magic were doing it right), and I think too much for an 80 year old man.

Now if you want to promote Ryan to GM, and have Jerry consult, I’m all for it

Except Ryan West and Jesse Buss have actually done good work in their respective roles, West with his father as a mentor/adviser would help him navigate into the role in my opinion.

Edit - As long as their is a competent recruitment process where candidates are evaluated and judged I will be happy.

I LOL when hearing the talking heads saying Jerry West should/ would take the GM position. As stated in other posts here he is just a consultant with the clips, and prior to that with the Warriors, that is all he wants to do at his age.The biggest LOL thought is why would he even consider it after the way he has been treated by the Buss siblings. Balmer and him are good friends, he's going to do what is needed to make the clips L.A.'s team and is enjoying the dumpster fire in Laker land.

We need to stop hiring within the Lakers family. Time for a FRESH face from an experience outsider that will turn this franchise around.
