Couldn't agree more. Totally out of line, and a double standard that must be done away with.

Report: Knicks players are adamantly opposed to running Phil Jackson’s outdated triangle system

Following Friday’s revealing comments from New York Knicks president Phil Jackson, the team seems to have completely turned against him, openly refusing to run his beloved triangle system, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Jackson’s latest media tirade appears to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, even upsetting the future of the franchise, Kristaps Porzingis, who skipped out on a meeting after hearing the president’s rant in efforts to ship Carmelo Anthony out of town.

The “Zen Master” has faced resistance on his archaic offensive system countless times in the past few seasons, switching out of it soon after the start of this season, then back into it, the back out of it again.

“To Phil, the culture is the triangle,” a source close to the team told Wojnarowski.

Instead of looking for a different system that can fit his current roster, Jackson has been hellbent on hiring coaches who wouldn’t oppose his offensive philosophy — failing time and time again to the tune of an 80-166 win-loss record during his three years at the helm of the front office.

Players have reportedly developed a certain disdain for Jackson’s protege and assistant coach Kurt Rambis, whose coaching tactics have made him “beyond unpopular,” per league sources.

As long as Melo holds the no-trade clause in place, he holds every bit of the power and controls his own destiny — especially given that it was Jackson who signed him to an extension with the team and kept the clause.

While he is becoming an increasingly unlikeable piece of the New York puzzle, the apathy in the Knicks organization starts from the top down (ahem, James Dolan) and nothing is likely to change as long as the top of the pyramid remains the same.

I think there's blame on both sides. If I'm Phil, I'm wondering who these players think they are that they're too cool for a system that got 11 rings? I mean what Porzingis and Carmelo are better than Kobe and Shaq? The system can be worked and tweaked and adjusted until it fits the modern NBA a little more. The system itself is just a design to get easy shots for its players. There's elements of the Triangle in the system that Golden State runs.

At the same time, Phil is a jerk and he's always been a jerk. The way he's approaching this team is wrong and he's completely lost touch with his team. This is a weird, obstinate fight. It feels like a bunch of teenagers upset with some rule their parents have.

Either way, I couldn't care less honestly. Screw the Knicks.

the game passed by phil a long time ago

the triangle worked back in the day where the NBA was a big man's league. today's NBA is all about speed and shooting 3s. the true, back to the basket center is no more

IMHO only due to a lack of quality back to the basket centers.

Shaq would succeed in any era, and so would any other top centers of all time. The other teams would have to adjust their dominance.

Thank goodness we have Zubac! Game changer!!!

Shaq would foul out with all the flopping in today's game.

Some are saying Melo got another girl pregnant. I think she's leaving him because the Knicks suck.

Isn't she part of why he chose the Knicks instead of us, thankfully.

don't see the connection between the tri and big men, as phil won 6 rings with two all-world perimeter players and generally a rotating cast of average to below average offensive players at the 4/5 spots.

that said, what you can't do is allow a system to dictate philosophy and all personnel decisions. furthermore, if you decide to do so, you can't then invest heavily in coaches and players who don't fit in or believe in the system.

so, yeah, this is on phil. not because the triangle is lame, but because he couldn't set an agenda and stick with it. i said he lost on day one: when he capitulated and signed melo to the huge extension. he had a perfect opportunity to start clean and do things his way, and he blinked. since then, he's been scrambling without real direction, then smugly suggesting it's the fault of others.

he's just lucky zinger wouldn't work out for philly. bet zinger's wishing his do-not-call list had two teams on it...

He also lost his chance of getting the only ring he could get.
