Phil Jackson, Knicks Pick Up Mutual Option For Two More Seasons
    APR 13, 2017 11:09 AM

Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks have picked up their option on the remaining two seasons of his contract this spring.

Jim Dolan publicly said in February that he would honor Jackson's five-year contract.

Both Jackson and the Knicks held the option to walk away at the end of the 16-17 season.

The Knicks are 80-166 in Jackson's three full seasons as president of the Knicks.

Jackson will have more than $20 million in cap space and also figures to attempt to trade Carmelo Anthony in the offseason.

Knicks fans must be sooo happy, and now the triangle will be shoved down their throat as well. This has more disaster written all over it.

Melo must be regretting resigning with the Knicks. How long until he demands a trade?

Phil said during interview today that Melo would do better playing somewhere else.

    Melo to Indy
    PG13 to LA
    Deng and Moz to NY

I'm really glad and thankful we have Magic & Rob instead of Phil.

I can dream. And Melo's trade value goes down with every Phil comment.

Phil is one of the worst I've ever seen at doing this job. He's never around, he's never available for the media and when he is he says the dumbest s*** and offends people and his own players. I can't believe he's gonna be there 2 more years, but I guess he and Dolan deserve eachother. God dang though, the Melo stuff today, shut up already about the guy, YOU offered him a huge deal and he took it. Now he's making sly jokes about him holding the ball being what he does. Plus if you're trying to trade the guy, telling the world that he's better off elsewhere, basically assuring that he HAS to be traded is killing any leverage you may have had and now all you're gonna get for him is garbage. There's a certain type you need to be to be a team president/GM, and Phil is not that, because he's a douche who says unprofessional things and that flies as a coach when you're winning titles, but not with this job.

If I ever even thought he'd be a good GM, I'd owe everyone an apology. I don't think I did though, so you get nothing.

I thought Jackson was an unproven commodity as a GM (President) but leaned on his player/coaching experience would be at least a good starting point for him to be competent. Wrong! LOL! :)

I never thought Phil would bring NY a championship, but without a doubt I thought he'd be better than this.

His attitude of "they'll reap the benefits after I'm gone" is a cop out. Either they will and he's trying to take credit, or they won't. Really simple. But he's trying to take credit for something he hasn't done so far.

The Knicks would totally spend 150 million to bring back Rose.

    Insanity.

as much as i think jackson is a bad gm (which i predicted), i don't read his comments as indicative of a big offer to rose in FA. more like...we'll keep him for a year if we strike out on plans A-F. i'll be very surprised if anyone gives rose more than a year, and at low money (MLE type).
