There are a lot of teams with young talent. Truthfully, it's rare for it to come to big fruition.

True, but most aren't lucky enough to have two potential stars among them and an equally talented young coach to lead them.

Positively positive right now with 40M of cap space still available

Hard to find the positives these days but I hope the young guys rally behind Luke and use all these laughing stock articles about us as a motivation to prove themselves.

Let's revisit my list. With the Deng signing...

    Starting Center
    Depth at G/Wing
    Defense

    Outside Shooting
    Facilitator
    Shooting at the 5
    Defense at Wing
    Veterans

In my view, we have sufficiently addressed our needs in four of the eight areas, and we have at least made an attempt to address two more.

Drafting Ingram and signing Deng changed everything. The wing position is now one of our strengths. Quite a turnaround from the Wes Johnson era. I love the Lakers.

After looking at what we have, I was curious and compared our team to Golden State, height wise and we aren't that far off from them. Take their small ball lineup
    Curry: 6'3"
    Thompson: 6'7"
    Iguodala: 6'6"
    Barnes: 6'8"
    Green: 6'7"

Take a look at our POTENTIAL small ball line up.
    Russell: 6'5"
    Clarkson:6'4"
    Ingram: 6'9"
    Deng:6'9"
    Randle: 6'9" / Nance: 6'8" / Black: 6'9"

We are very similar in terms of height, and from our signings so far this free agency, it kind of seems clear what Luke and the staff is aiming for. It seems like they want to take the Warriors approach and implement it here in LA. We knew that when we hired Luke, but it's becoming a lot more clear the further we go into the offseason.

Deng is one of our best FA signings in a long time. Even taking age into account, he's still a starting player, he can still score, still defend, by all accounts a good teammate. He was like 3rd on my list or SF signings.

I think Clarkson is 6'5" with shoes and 6'3.25" without shoes. Same measurements as Russell.

If I'm including shooting inside the three-point line and Deng's corner threes, I'l mark "Outside Shooting" as addressed, even if not yet sufficiently.

At this time I'd say this is one of the best values in free agency. that will likely change over the life of the contract as Deng ages, but right now he's still better than guys like Bazemore and Turner. i'm crossing my fingers that his body holds up over the next few years.

So what do you see guys see our win total now with Deng? Before we signed him I thought we cool win about 28 games. Now I think we win somewhere between 30-35. Right not I'd predict 32-50. If we get another quality veteran I could see 34-48.

42 for the 8th seed. That should be our target.

That's a lot to ask for such a young group of guys. I hope so. Tired of missing the playoffs and it would all would pretty much guarantee we can a high impact free agent next season.

You got to believe to achieve. There's no reason to expect any lower than the 8th seed. Where's the fun in that?

I just wanna tamper my expectations a little bit so I'm not so dissapointed if we don't make the postseason.
